Its eh... cute haha. It reminds me of the smart car front end but, with even less materials to protect you in a front end collision. That alone would keep me from driving one. Neat but, not for me.

This does not look appealing to me at all. It’s like a Mach-E 69’d a cropped Canoo. I also don’t know what that giant pill looking thing is on the side of it.

These tiny trucks are popping up all over Hawai’i. I could see this Telo EV Pickup catching on here.

I personally need a proper 4x4 for where I need to go. But I see the use case. A very affordable price point would sell a boat load of these across the islands.

It's an air guide. Takes high pressure air from the rear of the front wheel wells and directs it to behind the cab / over the bed where the low pressure bubble sits.

I've brought up how bad that gash looks in renders, and probably will in person too to the CEO. He's receptive to feedback and jokes about it, which is a refreshing change in and of itself. The air guide is going to need some serious rework to meet their aero targets anyway, so I really hope they fix it aesthetically too.

If I got one, it would be an overgrown UTV, farm truck, forest service road explorer, etc. Does fill a nice niche lower in price, smaller in space, but more capable than the Alibaba death trap kei trucks. Cautiously optimistic that it will do well here, and later in other countries too.

Probably not much issue with range anxiety, for vehicles in Hawaii.

What range anxiety? The Telo claims it will get over 300 miles on a charge.
The "tiny truck" in that image isn't a Telo (I don't know what it is), and probably doesn't have that much range (if it is even a BEV).
The Telo does sound interesting, though - the specs and design are impressive. And the top guys, as listed on the website sound like they are serious creators.

And....your chance of surviving a frontal collision without any meaningful crumple zone?

About Zero percent.

And shockingly, some people ride motorcycles.

If anyone wanted a size comparison of this toy truck, I thought I would oblige.

You're welcome.

And shockingly, some people ride motorcycles.
And unshockingly, they have the highest death and injury rate of any motor vehicles on the road.

The world needs more vehicles like this, IMO. The whole problem with our automotive obesity crisis is the race to solve all problems with mass (more batteries, more bulk, more wheelbase...) which then creates a collision arms race (more mass wins) and drives up pedestrian deaths, emissions, road wear, etc. astronomically.

That said, in the real world, you've got to be a little insane to believe this has a chance in the American mass market. It's a highway deathtrap and the market for "little city runabout truck" may as well not exist. This is a country where we can't even sell compact cars to city dwellers.

This thing makes a smart car look like an SUV.

There is zero chance this design can beat out the physics of a car crash. I have no idea what the designers were thinking.
