Lately, I have noticed increased uptake for new EVs from these makes/models.

- EQS
- EQS SUV
- F150 Lightning
- Lucid Air
- ID.4

When new models come out, people in SoCal are quick to uptake the vehicles.

Early days, we had seen many of Rivians but lately, the frequency of Rivian's on the road has not increased. Neither have Tycans, e-Trons (all variants, including GT), or Model S/X Plaid models.

What I see the most is EQS and EQS SUV increasing on the road significantly.

Nothing scientific but it's not a good indication to see little to no increase of R1 on the roads for the company. Perhaps Rivian is delivering much higher numbers outside of SoCal.

Between the frequencies of seeing make/model, and number of paper temp plates, generally speaking it is a good indicator of what vehicles are selling from SoCal samplings.
In DC/MD/VA seeing many SUV’s.

Those of you who live elsewhere than SoCal, or never have lived in SoCal, have no idea of magnitude and the breadth of all makes and models.

I see probably on an average commute, half a dozen R1S/T combined. Not saying that it's selling. What I am saying is that the growth/uptake trajectory has slowed down compared to other vehicles I'd originally listed. You can think of it like how some make EV has increased 90%, but in real numbers, its few thousands.

It's also not meant to sound arrogant about where I live. I've lived in NY/NJ/TX/MI in addition to CA (both NoCal and SoCal) and traveled extensively around the country for work over the years. You don't have to agree - it's just a fact that SoCal is the car capital of the world. There are more cars and truck in SoCal than any other single region (thanks to crappy public transit). Most automakers turn to SoCal for trends and use it as a test market for vehicles. They also have design studios here (almost all makes globally).

Glad you are seeing more Rivians on the road. It's the trajectory that I mentioned and trend is not as good as some of the others.
Your're overlooking the fact that Rivian's distribution decisions to date are skewing your observation. It's clear that Rivian targeted certain areas for initial distribution - California, Colorado, PNW. So they started popping up rapidly. 25,000 vehicles later, they have filled a higher % of the demand in those areas, and are now shifting deliveries to other areas of the US.

The uptake could be 30% of what is was a year ago in SoCal/Colorado/PNW, but in the other 90% of the country uptake is increasing exponentially. Part of that is because Rivian is shipping more vehicles to other parts of the US, which obviously means less vehicles will ship to SoCal, as well as lower demand because previous orders have been fulfilled. To observe that there is an apparent decreasing uptake rate in SoCal (which may be true) isn't a valid indication of the health of Rivian. What you are stating is based on a false equivalence.

I have only ever seen a total of 2 Lucids, 1 Lightning, and 4 EQS. I saw 3 Rivians Yesterday.

Live in DC area and saw a fair number of Rivians in the region. But you all that live in Seattle are not lying. I'm here for a couple months and the first car I saw picking up folks at the airport (when I landed) was an R1T. The sightings haven't slowed since then. They're everywhere.

Entirely possible and said so in my original post that one of the reason maybe due to deliveries being made to other regions.

Anecdotal observations are still anecdotal.

It's funny how our brains work when it comes to noticing things. If someone talks about EQS we see lots of them, they were most likely there before just that we didn't notice them. I see lots of EVs which is a great thing, regardless of the manufacturer. I am seeing more Rivian's each month.

I got lazy last week and drove our 2 day old R1S instead of my Falcon Sprint to a cars and coffee in Arcadia CA. I parked a little off to the side, put it in sport mode, rolled down the windows and walked away. Shortly after I got there, two Lucids rolled up and parked near it. I've never got so much attention with any car I've ever taken to a show. Tons of questions and general curiosity about electric cars. People seemed very receptive to the new technology. Even got thumbs up from a well respected member of the local hotrod club. A couple guys even said they had R1Ts, but hadn't seen the R1S in person.

Long away around to say that Rivian is headed in the right direction in my opinion. Also, I'm seeing a lot more Rivians at the EA chargers near my house, along with every other make and model.

Even here in the middle of the flyover states, I am seeing lots of R1Ts, and even some R1Ss now, but almost no Lightnings (except for dealer lots, where they sit very lonely in rows), and no Lucids. Looking forward to this trend only increasing! However, at this point, the more EVs on the road the better.
