The current version has no mechanism for fact checking, and isn't even connected to the internet. Heck it doesn't even access to a calculator.

If you limit your expectations, and you cross check what it claims you'll have a lot better luck with it.
My problem isn’t with my expectation, it is others who read it, think it is good grammar and eloquently written so it must have been proofed.

Seriously, I know people that vote based on TV commercials without researching anything to see if it is accurate. I’ve seen commercials in California for propositions that listening to them sounds like voting yes or no is the same result.

Storage drawer coming as an alternative to the camp speaker.
I would absolutely get one if it included an update to use a pin to lock it into the console.

My guess is R2 will not have air suspension or hydraulic dampening.

...and I'd say when questioned about CarPlay, RJ's comments on the importance of having control of the Rivian UI Ethos/Eco-system just about puts the nail in the coffin of any one's CP/AA hopes.
No chance of a better suspension. Rivian's cost of manufacturing will exceed Model Y and other direct competitors, which is a big problem.

Hmm, I’m suprised so many are against the speaker. I for one things its super innovative and useful. It’s always charged, locked in, and ready to go. Great for the beach camping and parks.

Not super innovative. There have been a couple of other vehicles with such a speaker. I believe the Jeep Gladiator has one. Besides that a lot of people already have a portable BT speaker so it’s redundant.
Either way I’d prefer storage than a speaker.

RJ hesitated before answering the question just long enough that maybe, just maybe, there are internal conversations about it.

Do you want Carplay/AA in your model 3?

That’d be fine ? They already added Apple Music.

I don’t have the Rivian yet but every time I’ve sat (or driven) in one, the interior reminds me of a more conventional vehicle, unlike the Tesla, which I think creates a certain level of expectations.

Let me rephrase. Do you feel that the lack of carplay in the model 3 is a problem?

I'm curious if I can find a Tesla owner who thinks carplay will add features or improve the Tesla user experience.

Kinda irritated by how dismissive RJ is of CarPlay and AA. He can still control the user experience with either of those platforms. What he can’t do without them is offer superior navigation options like Waze, OnX, an Gaia. He can’t offer every music platform that many of us want. I’m good with Apple Music, I don’t really want Spotify. Maybe someone else wants Youtube music. Carplay or AA can make that happen. Then, as mentioned by others, Rivian has no capability of handling text messaging. I can’t speak to AA but Carplay handles that extremely well.

While the navigation and music options are getting better, there isn’t any way that Rivian can give use the usability of Waze for years. Right now it does a crap job of traffic reporting. It is only passible at navigation. It certainly can’t tell me there is an accident up the road or a cop hiding somewhere.

At a minimum find a way to offer Waze or other 3rd party apps natively on Rivian. My understanding is that the infotainment is an Android based VM. So that uplift shouldn’t be impossible.

I know what you meant. I just don’t spend a lot of time in the Tesla (or any vehicle for that matter these days).

I don’t feel like the Tesla is lacking CarPlay. I find the UI easy to use and intuitive and I like the map/navigation in the Tesla.
As for the Raptor (most recent generation of Sync), I always use CarPlay as I find it much more user friendly and pleasant to look at (CP navigation is also integrated in gauge cluster so I don’t lose anything from the traditional nav systems).
As for the Rivian… I’ll know more whenever they deliver ours.

Step 1: buy a phone mount
Step 2: place phone on mount
Step 3: use phone as additional screen and “CarPlay”

I did like the discussion on content in the R1 and how they are changing things going forward. I thought I’d like the Camp Speaker but like many others I just don’t use it much. I big storage drawer will be much more useful. I pretty much only use the Camp Speaker when I’m working in my garage.

I do hope they keep the flashlight and it seems it’ll be around for a long time. IMO that should be a signature feature on all Rivian’s. I use that thing all the time and it’s a pretty solid product IMO.

Very interesting talk about the Camp Kitchen. I’d love to see it become half it’s current size while maintaining usability.

I wish Marques had brought up some of the other issues. Removing power sockets from the frunk and under the dash just seems dumb. At the very least replace them with AC outlets. Also I would have liked Marques to bring up the Tonneau cover issues. Wasn’t Rivian going to have the redesign done by March?
