So my Rivian has not been able to ‘hold’ a steady charge. No matter the method.. (portable charger at work, wall-mount Rivian charger at home). The charge status seems to jump around constantly up and down. It will show the correct amperage (48amp at home), but the miles do not reflect the proper charge rate it should be at, and it’s not even steady.

It will jump between 12 miles to 21 miles and anything in between.

Anyone know what may be going on???

Does it do this at a public charger?
Any other electrical issues at home? Sounds like a brown out or dirty power.

Did you try rebooting the car? If that does not work I would call Rivian support. It is not uncommon to see it move a little but 12-21 is excessive.

What is it showing for actual power and how many miles are you actually adding? Are you saying it will add between 12 and 21 miles in a full hour, or just the the app displays between 12 mi/hr and 21 mi/hr during the hour?

I find the miles/hr inconsistent and most times useless in the app, but the actual power being delivered is pretty constant. With the 48A hardwired you should be getting around 11.5 kW. The green bar graph in the app shows what you are getting. If you are adding 11.5 kWh of energy after an hour of charging, you are fine. Mi/hr is just a calculated value, and there is definitely something inconsistent with the calculation. If you are adding ~25 miles after a full hour of charging and showing fairly constant power, then ignore whatever it is spitting out in mi/hr minute to minute.

Also, check the session summary on the center console in the charging screen. Make sure you aren't getting excessive energy used up by cabin/battery temps and accessories. The mi/hr might be jumping around based on how much is going to the actual battery. You could be drawing a steady 11.5 kW from the EVSE, but if gear guard, outlets, climate control, etc are all on, then a significant amount of that 11.5 kW could be going to things other than the battery, and the mi/hr would accurately reflect what was left for the battery.

Should not jump up and down that much You should be able to get max 48 amp hardwired (appr. 25 miles/hour) Is there something else that is pulling the power off your panel simultaneously when you charge? If there is nothing else, you definitely should submit a ticket to rivian.

Guessing you're sitting in it observing this? Turn the HVAC off. It's only reporting energy going into the battery.
