You can oder the car without the Enhanced AP - then add it later thereby getting the tax credit.Could have sworn several things in Enhanced used to be included or much less additional cost. So to get a car with decent driver assist, you have to pay $6k and lose the tax credit then...

Tesla’s configurator states that software upgrades do not factor into the price caps. Not sure if this is explicitly in the law, or if they’re essentially splitting the transaction behind the scenes. You can oder the car without the Enhanced AP - then add it later thereby getting the tax credit.
On the Tesla site it says software upgrades are excluded from the MSRP tax price cap…You can oder the car without the Enhanced AP - then add it later thereby getting the tax credit.
“The MSRP, as defined by the IRS, is the base retail price provided by the manufacturer plus the retail price of each accessory or optional piece of equipment that is physically present on the car at the time of delivery to the dealer. MSRP does not include taxes and other fees added on by the dealer.”Tesla’s configurator states that software upgrades do not factor into the price caps. At least in the past, on some of the Tesla's I purchased, if ordered with AP or EAP or FSD, it showed on the window sticker and fell under the MSRP. Possibly it's changed since then, but they did use to include it in the Monroney sticker if it was an option selected when you placed the order for your car.“The MSRP, as defined by the IRS, is the base retail price provided by the manufacturer plus the retail price of each accessory or optional piece of equipment that is physically present on the car at the time of delivery to the dealer. Since software is not physically present on the car when the dealer receives it, it wouldn’t be included. It has to be purchased and the car needs to update in order to receive the software. At least that’s my guess!
I’m also going to echo what others are saying in that my Model 3 was flawless for 8k miles with zero problems. I used mobile service once and they were fantastic.
I mean they are available to be purchased through the app or in vehicle, so worst case they could just tell everyone to buy them after the fact if they want them. Problem solved. Rivian should look into doing the same actually.Tesla’s configurator states that software upgrades do not factor into the price caps. Imagine paying $70k for a MYP a few months ago.
Agree, but a gradual reduction over a couple of years would have been an easier pull to swallow.I got screwed by a similar tactic, on early Model 3's. Put my deposits down... Waited many months for Model 3 release... Once released, shortly there after, prices dropped and anyone could get one.. Reservation and all that time with my money tied up was worthless, since not needed.
Yeah, I was pissed, but must come to the realization that these advanced EV's are like CE. They will drop in value like crazy and something newer/better will always be around the corner. That has only not been true for a short while, due to this Pandemic -> Inflation BS..
Yep, like bringing in the customers who were otherwise waiting for other, potentially cheaper EVs and putting pressure on other EV manufacturers. Smart business move by a company that can afford to muscle around other manufacturers in the sector.sometimes things are discounted for a reason...
