Clock is ticking for them. Kia with their Ev9 are closer to releasing(estimated 1Q 2023) than one would have thought. I feel like 50% of Rivian's current remaining R1S orders will flip if this happens.

I'll end up pre-ordering that as well and see who delivers 1st...........

I'd flip for EV9 for my wife...but 300 fewer HP is a big trade off for Kia dealer network, and carplay. I want the R1S because its better and faster than anything sub <100k. And of course the sunk cost fallacy (time, energy, emails, forums, IPO, etc)

Forget about Kim... I'd contact Kyle from Out of Spec. If you get in touch with Kyle by Monday.. you'd have your Rivian last week already ;)

Got a response from my guide. Not much to note, but this line caught my attention:

"I see that you have confirmed your configuration and this is the last step needed before we can start the purchase/delivery process. While I don't have an ETA now, we will be sending out delivery timing updates later this month."

That makes me think there's some weight behind the idea that this wave came out when it did to help them update their delivery estimates.

Seems like a ton of confirm your configuration emails have gone out tonight. Nervous excitement here!

In other news, a horrible thought occurred to me. How Rivian would be be to confirm a bunch of configurations and then a day or two later announce a bunch of new options, colors, etc!?

Just the opposite for me. Rivian just cancelled my VIN and Purchase steps again for the second time due to a problem with my schedule vehicle. No other explanation. They are telling me they will update me in 2-4 months.

My guide got back to me this morning. Told me "We are confirming orders to lock in the configurations so we know what people are wanting us to build. This does not change your existing delivery window."

I asked if I should sell my car expecting 6-8 weeks delivery time. He told me to hold off until I get the 8 steps. I am Feb/March R1S.

I think the confirmation was just to plan their manufacturing line up. So...still waiting.

My guide also mentioned I’d get an EOM update so I’m drawing the same conclusion. They’re planning the next quarter now.

Similar to others here... I emailed my guide to introduce myself and got back this, looks like they are changing the confirmation of configuration timelines to help use it toward production...

Rivian R1T R1S ? Tons of "Confirm Your Configuration" emails have gone out tonight 1/6/23!!! 7578a182-e877-4fec-8076-965dcbb399cf

Hi Jeremy,

Good morning, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Im excited to get the R1S to you all as well! We're confirming orders a little further upstream so that we can plan for our production queue and provide better delivery information when we share our next window refresh at the end of this month. I see that you've confirmed your configuration and your current delivery window is April - June 2023. No further action is required at this time. You can also schedule a call with me using the link at the bottom of my signature block. Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Stay adventurous,

Thanks for your fast and succinct response. Based upon your response, I am hopeful that I may have a new date assigned, and just emailed my guide for clarification. But that is n=1, so there is plenty of time for someone here to demolish any hope I have :)
I have a 2/21 preorder, so coming on 2yrs now. Was given a "sometime in 2024" delivery date in the last updates. I did not get this "confirm your configuration" email. My last email was a let's talk about the future email on 1/5. I think KingTodd I would be cautiously optimistic.

SO they kind of dashed my hopes this morning. I had my introduction call with my guide. She just confirmed my contact info and the configuration that I confirmed online a few days ago. She said this will be used to help update the delivery dates in January. So no guarantee of anything. I did ask if being assigned a guide meant I would receive my R1S in 6-8 weeks as many before me have, and she said no it was just to help with delivery windows.
