Volvo EX90 could be worthy competitor to R1S

we just got a XC90 T8 Recharge for my wife, she's had two xc90s before and was driving a model Y P for the last few months while waiting for her R1S but that got pushed out a whole year and she didn't want to stay with the Tesla that long.

We ended up doing the Care By Volvo subscription, which is likely more expensive than a straight lease, though, the dealer said they normally won't do the T8 on the Care By Volvo program because they usually sell them for $5K above MSRP but it was the last day of the month so they 'let us do it'.

Care By Volvo allows us to return the car after only 5 months or swap it for a new one at 12 months. The total program length is 24 months. So, hopefully, her R1S comes in or the EX90 shows up within that timeframe.

This sounds good for us/my wife. Pretty much exactly what she wants. As long as the headlights "don't look too angry" (her words, not mine).

How is this? I looked at these with great interest.

Are you asking about the T8 or the Care by Volvo program? My wife likes the T8, but she misses the acceleration of the Tesla. The T8 accelerates better than the T6 but its still a hybrid.

I do like the F-U acceleration of Tesla. I missed that when test driving the Rivian. Definitely miss it when driving any ICE vehicles now. Even the transmission lag is enough to keep me in an EV going forward.

I mean a fully loaded XC90 PHEV is almost touching $90K, and the EX90 will definitely carry a premium so I doubt it's going to be cheap.

I assume you're planning on working your way through all the parts on the Rivian that are stamped "Made-in-China" and replacing them with made-in-usa?
