Half the things I do with my Rivian I couldn't do with the Cybertruck. No roof rack. No bed racks. It wouldn't fit in my garage (R1T barely fits). It looks like it has poor visibility and would be a pain to drive in town and in traffic. We have yet to see if it has a front trunk. No gear tunnel. I can't stand the lack of a central screen in front of the driver. You get one color.

It also doesn't have any of the benefits of the F150 Lightning. V2G. Massive aftermarket accessories already available. Ford service network (You may laugh at traditional dealerships, but it you live in remote areas they are a massive benefit).

My guess is the price will be on par with Rivian and premium F150 Lightnings. I really don't understand the appeal other than to be different and scream "look at me!"

If I had any interest in another EV truck, it would be the Lightning or the Silverado/GMC.
1) Visibility might be good (for a truck) with the forward seating position and short hood. It will be superior visibility to any Silverado or F150.

2) V2G is still undetermined at this time. It very well could have it. Rivian is lacking with only 1500W total in this regard

3) It was revealed with a frunk and every Tesla has a frunk. It will certainly have a frunk. Loading height will be low as well.

4) No gear tunnel but the prototype had storage in the bed side rail wings and it has under bed storage similar to the Rivian.

5) I'm sure Tesla has a card or two up it's sleeve

6) Price will be far higher than initial reveal. There will never be anything close to $40k and RWD will never be produced. I would guess starting somewhere in the $60s but higher trims only initially.

I have CT reservation because Tesla has delivered on their specs in the past and when I made my reservation, $49K for a full size truck with 300+ miles of range and access to the supercharger network, plus the performance specs in terms of acceleration, payload and towing, was a very good value. Again, making some assumption that they will deliver on the original specs. If it can seat 6 when delivered it will meet a current void in the market of vehicles that seat more than 5. Will I actually buy one when my reservation number comes up (probably 2025)? Depends on how well we like the R1S and what the final specs and pricing are of the CT turn out to be. If you set aside looks, CT will very likely be a fairly practical full size truck. One of the big drawbacks will be the inability to access the bed from the sides because of the "sails." At the same time if the tailgate is actually able to double as a ramp that will make it pretty great for motorcycles and loading other heavy things.
Good points. The sails had integrated storage in the prototype. I love me some outside lockable storage that is easily accessed (like the gear tunnel). Everything TBD on what final rendition will have and am sure Tesla would release something we don't know about with the final release. The sails will get in the way but may still be more reachable in the back half than a standard 1/2 ton truck in low mode on the air suspension. Reaching anything against the front bed wall would require stepping on the tire, which I have to do anyways in full-size trucks with higher suspensions.

A mid gate would be a campers dream. Owners could sleep in comfort during the hot and sticky summer months with the HVAC running.

Yep, the GM triplets will be great for that. As was my original Avalanche.

Some are saying that the truck in the video is the final production version of the 2024 Cybertruck. Tesla stayed extremely close to the concept if this is true.

I love the LED light bar on the front end. Note the changes to the SS bed (now a composite), taillights, headlights and new tow receiver design. The wheels are 6-lug and this truck is still sporting the unibrow windshield wiper design.

Bring a potable AC with your Rivian. I would if I liked hot summer camping. Some elctric heat is ideal for spring/fall

I am old fashioned style, and can't stand the look of cybertruck. I am happy with R1T/S.

In my opinion most naysayers in this thread don't understand why the Cybertrucks looks the way it looks. Does it look good? That's highly debatable, even I would say a door wedge ain't the prettiest.

The manufacturing processes Tesla is employing to create the CT and the non rounded edges look are one and the same reason how they're reducing build costs. If anyone has doubt on Tesla's manufacturing efficiencies and scaling capabilities you guys really need to take a step back form the Elon hate. (And no I'm not a fan boy and thinks he needs to get off drugs and twitter)

I knew all about that and I still hate it. The process you are describing could have resulted in a vehicle that looks different than the one they claim will be made. It was Elon who decided he didn’t want it to look like a truck from the beginning. Mission accomplished. These were conscious choices they made.

Also, I highly doubt the $ saved by using that process will be passed along to consumers. Just because it saves Tesla money doesn’t mean it saves anyone else money.

This argument only makes sense if the Cybertruck turns out to cost a lot less than the Lightning or R1T.

If it's similar in cost, then it was a failed exercise in cost reduction which consumers are left with an ugly truck instead of something more traditional and functional.

If it actually does cost less and Tesla sells it for a similar price, then you are simply giving Tesla more money so they make higher margins and still buying an ugly truck.

If this truck isn't a lot cheaper, then they have failed. They would have been much better off building a more traditional design that fits the Tesla design language.

Let's be honest. If they had built a truck that looks more the like rendering below, it would have been much better received. Instead they created a very polarizing design which may end up being their first flop.

It's gone essentially unnoticed that the Austin model Y with the structural battery pack is not significantly lighter than the the Fremont Model Y. So no benefit so far from that innovation.

But Tesla has no reason to pass cost savings on to customers. Musk projecting a low cost Model 3 and then a low cost Cybertruck was simply anxiety about demand as Tesla planned to build high volume.

On the flip side the lack of positive margins on the R1 may doom Rivian. It's easy to build popular products when cost exceeds revenue. Musk's genius is in making a profit in cleantech.

No four wheel steering? That turning radius is going to be atrocious.

Is the wheelbase longer than the typical four door F150?
The wheels look to be pushed out to the corners further but it could just be an optical illusion. I don't think Tesla has released official stats about it yet.
