I know nothing about PPF, never used it, etc. Are their downsides to using it? Does it make the color shine more or less (clear PPF)? Does it yellow? I understanding the scratching upside, but curious about aesthetics, longevity, etc.

Thanks!

I entered my info on the form to get more information. There is a local XPEL installer that I previously went to for windows tints and they do great work so I hope they are part of this program. The only problem now is that I have been firmly on forest green and didn't consider a full stealth wrap (mainly due to the 7-10k estimates being thrown around which was more than what I wanted to pay) but for $4500 it seems like a no brainer. Hopefully I get a reply back soon just in case I do get an email from Rivian to move forward with my preorder since if I do go with the PPF I'd switch to Glacier White.

Is the $1500 a good deal for frontal if you still need to pay for paint correction?

Regarding the whole program in general, I think this is GENIUS on Rivian's part:
  • They gain goodwill among customers
  • Their vehicles look extra awesome
  • They probably get a cut
  • The local shops get to upsell customers to paint correction, ceramic, window tint, etc.
  • XPEL gets broader attention
  • Local shops and XPEL probably get more non-Rivian customers from the Rivians that look amazing.
  • Rivian can use this when customers complain about paint chips all across the front of their blunt-nosed R1's. "We did offer a wrap."
  • Local shops and XPEL get repeat business perhaps every 5 years.
  • Customers get a deal! Especially on the stealth.
It's win-win-win for everyone!

Exactly this. And most wrap shops have an Instagram account, so 'free' publicity and brand awareness for Rivian. If they're getting an actual cut, I can't see how it's much, but the overall value prop seems to be a win/win for Rivian, the wrap shop, Xpel and the customer.

Are those prices competitive? 1500 & 4500?
They are competitive. In LA a front wrap is at least 2K and the whole car at least 6-7k I think from what I've seen.

I paid $2300 for LLumar Valor on front wrap and tint on my front windows to match the back.

Yeah I'm wondering what Rivian's incentive is for this? Also, if nothing else it levels the playing field a bit for people getting quotes from various shops. If someone quotes 8K to PPF your truck, they have some explaining to do...

Rivian sent an email out to owners (I got it today) and it has a form to fill out that will refer you to local shops that participate in the Rivian expel program. The only PPF from the factory is on the gear tunnel doors and it's pretty low quality.

Dammit Rivian! I had been settled on LA Silver for months and now I need to see every color again under stealth PPF to be sure I’m not missing out!

Don't give in to FOMO. The first time I saw a stealth wrapped Tesla in LA I thought it was neat but now every 3rd Merceds, Tesla or BMW that I see is stealth wrapped.

I feel like they throw a red filter into all of their CR photos. Correct the background for the red and the color doesn't pop nearly as much imho.
I should have known better given their history of controversy with other colors. Paging Limestone...
