This is a good point. Did Kyle get a discount? If it’s a LE, did it have pre-march pricing?
Also the power tonneau cover is included with LE. If a post-price-hike reservation is getting fulfilled with LE without an adjustment that's $5,500 in benefits.

As someone who's about to take delivery of a post-price-hike Adventure R1T I won't be happy if that's the case.

More than that. The Quad motor, alone, is $6,000.

I'm treating that as a separate issue as that's a pre vs post price-hike discussion. I assume, possibly wrongly, that if Kyle did place his order after the price hike he paid the new pricing, however the new pricing on the LE is $85k (the $12k increase for quad motor/large pack), and that price includes the power tonneau (normally $3k at new price structure) and free wheel upgrade (normally $2.5k).

Wow. I like Kyle and his videos but if he ordered just a few weeks/months ago then this is again another example of unfairness.
He is only 3 years behind me. The only difference is he got his vehicle (and I have an R1s order).

I'd be pretty frustrated if he got pre-price hike price. If he spent less than $90k on that truck and got to skip the line... HUGE slap in the face to everyone who has been waiting.

Also annoying that he had the nerve to even ask if he could get his exact configuration early. Pretty selfish..

In the video, he said he didn't get it early because he's a YouTuber, but he definitely got it early because he's a YouTuber or at least has connections with the company. I don't mind, I enjoy his videos and we get to see more Rivian content.
lol! In his previous videos, he couldn't stop gushing over the Rivian and how he's decided to get one now that he's driven one. Think no one at Rivian saw that video and thought "If we get him one, he'll give us great PR"? Not likely!

What a bunch of whiners. It's one truck, out of 90k. You think one is going to make a difference for how quickly you get yours?

Further, as far as I know, Rivian has spent little to no money on advertising. Delivering a few trucks early to influencers in their target market segments is just smart business, and will benefit Rivian 10x more than delivering a truck to the average buyer.

You wouldn't be upset if you saw Rivian commercials on TV running right now. Think of this as that, not as someone skipping the line.

And get off your "I deserve it" high horses.
I'm glad Kyle got a truck. I'm sure he will make some awesome videos with it.

I have no idea how I got included in your post, but I certainly didn't complain about anything. I was discussing theories about how Rivian matches people with vehicles out of order. I never said I had a problem with Kyle getting his truck.

But since we are on the topic of whining, let's acknowledge the irony and self righteousness of your post in which you are whining about the fact other people are whining.

So the person from Alberta who changed their delivery address to their montana cabin and got their R1T cannot import it until RIvian gets themselves on the admissible vehicles list.
A Rivian in Montana seems like a great plan!:D

Glad he got it. Will give me more to watch while I continue to wait. Also glad it didn't have 20" wheels already so maybe his friend will have to speed up development of his Rivian wheels.

We don't mind seeing Kyle get his R1T before we get ours even though our order date is November 28, 2018. We have watched all of Kyle's Rivian videos and have enjoyed them all. W also learned a bunch about our future truck.

The one thing that Lyle got that we also want is to take factory delivery. We hope that this option will be available when our R1T is made.

Personally, I'm very happy that Kyle got his truck!
  1. With my 3/22 reservation, I'll probably be waiting until late 2024 for my Max Pack R1T. I'm going to need all the popcorn I can get. ? Kyle's detailed content will definitely make it a bit easier to wait, but then I'm a geek and love all the details.
  2. I can't think of a better person to root out some of the bugs, which should increase the quality of my truck by the time I finally get it.
  3. More content means more publicity for Rivian, which increases the chances that Rivian will actually be in business to honor that 60k/175k mile warranty when I need it!
  4. I plan to tow a lightweight 3700 lb. RV trailer across the Midwest, so I'm hoping to see a lot more detailed trailering reviews like the one Kyle did previously, which should address many of the situations that currently worry me a bit (mountains, snow, cold, charging at RV parks, charging in rural areas, etc.).

Wow. Rivian don’t need to do any advertising given their backlog extends into 2024. Basic fairness to what they themselves stated in the email about the R1 shop THIS week should apply.
I hope you never complain lest some fool says “whiner” to you.

I hope for all of us he doesn’t a lot of videos. Given the size of his fleet I wouldn’t count on it.
