Hmmm ?. Wonder how my first edition EV6 would do on cars and bids. It has to be better than the constant stream of Nigerian scammers on Auto Trader.
Let me know when you sell it, I have one and might consider it if Rivian doesn't give decent value on the trade in :CWL:

Not quite double pre-March 1 pricing.

By my math this ends up being around a $54k strict profit for the seller, depending on taxes/reg fees/etc.. and factoring in the tax rebate. Could be a bit more depending on how they set it up.

I mean shouldn't qualify for tax rebate, he didn't put miles on it so he could sell it, that's definitely intentional flipping. Plus C&B fee and 30% taxes. Still a profit but, weird that someone wouldn't buy the cheaper ones from ebay for 10k less.

Buyer pays the fee and seller will get the tax rebate. I've never purchased from eBay motors but C&B seems safer to me.

15k safer? I dunno, seems like someone got caught up on the bid, of course seems almost stupid not to sell at these prices as I’ve argued but I stand by the fact that he shouldn’t get tax credit. IRS could very easily audit this. You can only claim it if you intended to use it for personal reasons.

15k safer when it means potentially getting scammed out of $130k on eBay? Probably. But yes, the money is insane all around. Crazy stuff.

For the rebate, all they have to say is Rivian made them purchase the car sight unseen and they weren't happy with it when it arrived. Done, the rebate is theirs. Morally right or wrong is a matter of opinion, but the IRS isn't going to come after them for it.

The caveat for the tax rebate is more to prevent car dealership owners from registering "demo cars" to get the tax rebate and then reselling, which has been common. If you buy a car, change your mind, and resell it you are 100% still entitled to the rebate.

IRS is still processing millions of overdue tax Refunds from last year.
This kind of tax fraud ranks near the bottom of the scale I bet.
Eh I’m of the mindset if they are going to audit people that have less than nothing they should be auditing things like this. For the most part they already know what people owe and making 50k on a car a month after you bought it seems like a flag. But anyway that gets political and I’ll just stop it at I disagree. If this guy wants to sell his truck I really don’t blame him but morally I think he shouldn’t get the tax credit.

$142,500 plus taxes, title, registration, and shipping. No $7500 credit.

Im honestly surprised it’s this high. There’s an identical Launch Green eBay for $130k, and from I could tell there is no auction commission on ebay vehicle sales, just flat fees of around $250 plus extra for optional marketing. A few others on eBay for around $140-150k with the option to make an offer.

Autotrader has a few as well. I still think the few people willing to pay $130k+ are going to find trucks very quickly and then the market will stabilize. Closer to $100k which is roughly the MSRP on new orders.

R1S auctions will be interesting.

C&B looks like the way to sell any decent car these days. Buyer premium capped at $4500 and seller only pays listing fees. Not sure if it still works this way or what current fees are, but last (and only) time I sold a car on eBay Motors (about 4 years ago) they took 10% of my sale plus almost $80 in listing fees. ...Would've done better at CarMax at the time.
