Going to install the extreme dev kit this week, appreciate everyone’s questions/answers above as it already answered most of my questions.
Do I need to remove/replace my USB cable that I already have routed up to my C4 with the new one that came with the Extreme Dev kit?

You should be able to keep your existing cable.

🤷🏼 waiting for some reviews. Where are they? I’m considering this upgrade, but concerned that it is really worth the bucks. I’m pretty happy with my Comma 4, as is, with AP-staging and North Nevada Model V2.

Today was my first test drive. I took it to work and then back. It’s really nice being able to use the truck controls to engage, disengage the comma and also for lane changing. Between getting the wires nice and neat and the fuse tap, to me it was a no brainer to get the longitudinal upgrade. I see it as a long term investment and convenience factor. I know the torque vs angle based steering is also a factor. Before today I didn’t really understand the hype of MADS but WHOA, revolutionary lol. Being able to tap the right stick up and it keep the lane control on but have manual acceleration/deacceleration! Great! Especially in Texas where some stop and go traffic you need to be a little more careful when leaving too much of a gap between cars.

I know this is more of a model issue, but lane hugging is REAL! Yikes, it was a little scary at some points. And I had to fight the wheel a couple of times to keep myself a comfortable distance from the car in the other lane. Also, on some turns if a car was in the lane next to me but in front of me, it would slow down dramatically as if the car was in my lane. Now that everything is installed, I guess I move on to the next part of the game … choosing the right model. I think I used the xnor staging one but it performed horribly on open road in Texas curvy hill country. Open to suggestions!

It sounds like you don’t have Xnor’s new angle based steering upgrade. That is what I am interested in.

If it is lane hugging on straight roads, you may have to adjust the camera offset a wee bit. I had to do this as my truck wanted to favor the center line a bit too much. This can be done on Sunnylink under the Model section. I ended up adjusting mine to -.02 meters and that did the trick.

As for the best model, I’ve tried a bunch of them on my R1T. For me, North Nevada V2 was the clear winner, especially on unmarked country roads. It also seems to handle curves a bit better. Having said that, others have their favorites, so I suspect performance varies a bit with different vehicles. I’m also using the AP-staging branch.

I am having the same issue with the xnor model. On curvy roads my vehicle drives on the inside of the any given corner (left or right hand turn), often crossing over the lane marking and entering the adjacent lane or shoulder. When traveling straight it stays centered.

Any one have a recommended model that uses angle based steering that performs better?

Couple questions: What driving model are you using?

Are you on the latest build of rx-dev? What's the build date?

Also, make sure you have live learning steer delay turned off and the steer delay set to .10.

Thanks Gerry,

I was on stable, I just switched to rx-dev, turned off the live learning steer delay and set the delay to 0.1. Didn’t get a chance to test it out but will report back when I do.

Whew. Alright, I installed the harness. Axm is connected and wires ran but i don’t think I’m doing the fuse tap right. Can someone send a picture of the location and which direction the fuse tap is supposed to get installed? I have it plugged in but the comma 4 won’t turn on. USB cables are fine cause I checked them with standard outlets. So my guess is it’s the fuse tap. Any help is much appreciated!

Got a chance to test it today. It may be a little better but not much. I don’t have an 8 degree mount, how likely is that the culprit? Anything else to try?

I don't think you mentioned what driving model you're using? An 8-degree wedge mount might help as well.

I was using the default cd210. I just tried north Nevada model v2 and that seemed quite a bit better. Looks like I need to try the various models. Based on your experience, do you recommend a particular model?

I appreciate the help, I’m very new to the Comma platform.

Gerry likes DTRv6, I tend to use GWMv8 or GWMv9

I've had great lane centering (most of the time) with OPM10V3. Tight right-handers still hug the curb, but centering has been the best it's ever been for me on smaller country roads and divided highways. I also leave live steer delay on, and it seems to be great.

The point here is, models seem to be fairly personal. There's no one model that everyone says is great or even good enough when it comes to Rivians. Just try them all until you find the one that works best for your standard driving habits and conditions. Be aware though that some things are a learned response from you as well. Like 90 degree turns, if you play with the time between signal and the corner, approach speed and such, you will find what the model wants in many cases. Usually it's not very far from what you would normally do, so just takes a little time to adjust your brain to react the same. Same with hugging corners, many times, if you just speed up as soon as you see it start to go tight, it will throw you back away from the corner- that seems counter intuitive, so play with that with caution.
