Your assumptions tell us a lot. First, there are a lot of them in EU, even though you supposedly can't get one here. Second, I'm half owner of an R1T with my business partner in the US. I get to drive it when I'm there. We installed a CP unit based on recommendations here (along with other accessory recommendations from this forum). I just never thought to update the profile after buying one.

Either way, this sure seems like barking up the wrong tree. Carplay/AA are band aids to bad infotainment from legacy automakers. Rivian has made clear that they plan on owning the screen space and keep developing the software. If that's an issue, one can always buy from another brand.

With EVPlay available I don't understand why there's any complaining anymore. If you want AA/CP in your Rivian, you can now have it.

I missed Waze on long trips, so I bought the original EVPlay unit. 80% of the time I'm driving around town and never switch to CP, but I've found it really nice on longer trips. I put my destination in both the Rivian and Waze and then put Waze on the big screen and have the Rivian map on the driver's screen. For me it's the the best of both worlds, and it's significantly better than my previous "Waze on my phone connected to BT for alerts" solution. The advent of Rivian Assistant has improved my CP experience because I can verbally change drive modes or temperature without switching screens (yes, RA works when you've got CP on the main screen).

I liken the EVPlay unit to the magsafe charging pad I chose to add to our '23 R1S because the charging pad simply didn't work for us. There was a product on the market that made my experience with the Rivian even better so I bought and installed it.

So...

• If you're complaining about Rivian not having AA/CP just add it
• If you're complaining about AA/CP because you think it sucks or isn't necessary, please stop - your opinion isn't going to change anyone's mind

EU is an unsupported market and will remain to be one for probably another 2 years. Rivian has been moving fast lately with changes, and I am going to make a further assumption that you haven't been in a Gen2 with a recent update.

We must drive different Rivians. I am so puzzled why people who believe this would buy a Rivian.

Because you can solve and work around this problem. You cannot unfuck the Cybertruck, or make the stupid Lightning have less idiotic buttons and old-think design. There's no EV truck that's perfect, the Rivian is closest. The well documented problems with the infotainment can be mostly fixed with add-ons.

Regardless of how one feels about the infotainment, which is infinitely better than anyone else other than Tesla, Carplay is not happening.

LOL. Everyone in the many threads about infotainment problems is a non-owner. Gotcha. The videos showing all the problems are...AI?

Or...someone who has actually driven a Rivian would never defend the infotainment system.

Appreciate the post! But yeah, I'm with most. I much prefer a good UI and no Apple Carplay than bad/mediocre UI with Carplay. As much people complain and moan about the lack of Carplay, sales data does not really show it really slowing down or increasing sales with its inclusion or not. I completely understand why Rivian isn't even entertaining this topic anymore.

From UI perspective Rivian has the upper hand. They just need to nail the operation and function.
