I don't disagree, I'm observing the intellectual inconsistency of complaining about a factory being too close to residences when its slated to be placed in the middle of rural countryside.

I understand the handful of people of people that live in adjacent properties are upset, but deal with the old fashioned american way. Bide you time, sell your property for a massive profit, and move futher into the boonies where your windfall will buy that much more...
You should go there and see the landscape. It is ratThere are farms and residents that will literally look out there front door and see a 75' tall building across the street from their driveway.
It is quite a bit less dense. Check even Wikipedia. Repairs on UG lines is more expensive than OHU’s. Not sure where you are getting your “facts.”
Ga Power isn't in the business of doing things for less. long term or not. Efficiency isn't in the best interest of the power company.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Rivian, you're more than welcomed in Florida
They're quite welcome in Georgia generally. I imagine a poll of Georgians would be quite positive for Rivian. You're kidding yourself if you think that there wouldn't be similar NIMBY'ism if they tried to build a plant in an equivalent part of Florida to Social Circle-Rutledge.

Almost anytime a huge plant goes into a community there is going to be pushback from those located closest to it. It will impact their lives - some good and some bad - but the impact is disproportionate on the local community. I am sure Georgians 100 miles away have a positive view because they are not impacted in the same way.

Yep. There are 4 really broad groups:
1) Those very near to the plant site who will be impacted negatively
2) Those very near the plant site who will see it as a positive for the area
3) Those a little further away who will see it as a positive because it will increase job opportunities within their commuting range -- in this case residents of Covington and Conyers are within ~20 miles and would have a much easier commute than going to opposite direction into Atlanta metro.
4) Those further away who will have no personal impact at all.

Group 4 is by far the largest group and will probably have an overwhelmingly positive opinion of the plant.

Yes, but it's the delivery truck traffic they bring that might be more annoying. Hundreds of trucks are constantly in and out of FCs.
Maybe this is the ultimate application for Elon's Hyperloop? Tunnels to route the truck traffic underground directly into the plant to not disturb the community with the increased traffic.

I think thats the first time I’ve seen someone wearing one of those red fascist hats and a mask at the same time.

Isn’t domestic manufacturing needed to do what their hat says?

giant corporations are people, too. Shame these residents have forgotten that.

Yea, when I saw today that they're using Soros investing in Rivian as some sort of bullshit means to indicate that Rivian is in Soros' pocket and it's all political...

Our politics are utterly insane. Sorry, not sorry. If you believe ^ you're an idiot.

Personally, I think Rivian should move on from Georgia and reevaluate the other cities that were in the running. Even if Perdue doesn’t get elected and the plant gets built, I can imagine the harassment by locals towards Rivian employees. I don’t think it would be a pleasant place to live for anyone associated with Rivian.

Our politics are utterly insane.
This is one of the greatest understatement of this century. Add on how over-exaggerated most media outlets are now-a-days, further exasperates the statement quoted.

I just read that Georgia effectively blocked both of Rivian's legislative attempts to sell direct to customers.

Honestly between the politization of their new factory location and this, Rivian should tell Georgia to kick rocks and look at Texas and Arizona again.
