Chatted with a service rep today because I had some questions about when I would see my configurator back up and running within my account (I had cancelled my order after the price hike, and then reinstated it a couple days later). I know people who didn't cancel can already see their pricing reflects pre-March 1 prices, but I was told if you cancelled and then reinstated, it would be a little while longer and we'll get an email.

Another update I got from the rep is that, within the configurator you will be able to make changes (exterior color, interior color, etc..) and you will be able to see in live time how it would affect your delivery window. This is good to know as I am going to switch from OC interior to MB - although I don't think switching to black would affect anything given all the trucks have black interior right now.

Hope this is helpful for anyone in same situation

Oh man, real-time delivery updates are going to KILL them. There is no way they can plan for demand and actually achieve it. If LG/BM is getting earlier deliveries, then everyone will switch to that. Somewhere, the others will get bumped back, or they will not be able to meet their promises. Is Rivian really setting themselves up for another communications failure? I guess we will see.

BTW, if it came from CS, it is most likely incorrect. :CWL:

The software engineer in me is already visualizing a system that would "slot" each pre-order config with a batch that has been planned. Once that batch has all the slots filled and assigned to configs, then next person would get assigned the next batch that matched. If that was actually how they built it - then I could see us actually seeing an updated "ETA" on our config as your assigned batch got closer to production (perhaps a more granular date as production schedules were adjusted). At least...that's what I would build.

The chat transcript did say "in the coming months", so wouldn't hold my breath waiting to see more ETA information.

Then it will be a free for all and no longer would reservation date mean anything! Not that I would lose anything as I am towards the end of LE reservations .

expectation should be that Rivian will be able to reasonably estimate your own delivery within one to two weeks after actually delivering you a vehicle.

This is basically how the BOM sum priority tools work in SAP. It’s really just a matter if the production system is ready to walk the line.

Curious if with all the ones being shipped off anyone has seen if the big lot of trucks is being backfilled or if it’s diminishing

Denver lot has been full for quite a while...couple weeks. They have to do a lot of updates to the software/firmware before they can deliver them. I've gone for the last two weeks and it looks exact same with one or two getting delivered, I'd say.

Just wait until I start rumors that Explore, Ocean Coast, Small Pack, Dual Motor, R1S in Compass Yellow is super-totally-officially shipping fastest and folks should definitely switch.

The last time Rivian gave us delivery window estimates was December of '21. There hasn't been a mass update since then. And now they say that "in the coming months" they'll be giving us "live updates" on their website. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I would expect that the reservation date still has some pull on where you would be slotted for that particular configuration. This is a tough problem for them to solve, I imagine that's why it's taking so long. They are not the first ones to attempt it though either, so they have other examples they can follow.

Additionally, they are giving estimates again still... so we know how that goes.

The Dallas lot, which was completely full two weeks ago, now only has 3 trucks in it.
