The refresh is upon us and seemingly confirmed for tomorrow. What are everyone’s final predictions of what’s going to happen. Below are things that are seemingly confirmed:

All but confirmed:

Exterior
:
- slightly redesigned light bar
- two new wheel designs
- black out option for badging
- charging port light ring replaced with lit eject button
- camera location modification
- tow hooks missing on some vehicles
- door handles are now default buttons with emergency manual unlock
- front turn signal is its own separate light
- new wheel options and aero covers
- slight re-designed side rear view mirrors
- button on exterior door handles

Interior:
- new charging pad with divider
- frunk divider removed and now a different size
- interior light customizations

Rumored changes:
- Heat pump addition
- Electrochromic Sunroof
- upgraded HVAC
- new motor variants

What do you think is going to happen tomorrow outside of what is confirmed? Post your wild speculations here!

In my opinion there has to be a big surprise no one has leaked yet for the top of the line R1S. For leasing only the quad motors were heavily discounted. Other than there being a big change to the top of the line model, I don’t see why that would be the case. My speculation is the quads may not be as compatible with the future updates as they switch to in house motors. That, or there is a quad only change that will make people want to wait.

Top-of-the-line QM gets a very sexy, new, and exclusive 22-inch wheel that no one has ever seen before -- you heard it from me first.

Plus...a performance and efficiency boost.

Wild speculation....

They have completed boxing and addressing NACS adapters for all existing owners and will be shipping them out Friday.

This then allows them to include the NACS adapters with all new refresh vehicles as standard equipment and delivered with the vehicle.

All in the spirit of Summer Kick Off for road tripping season.

Camera upgrades, processor upgrade.

More upcharging - tow hooks, tinting roof, wood interior, blackout package, streaming package, add on performance package post purchase, etc. For manufacturing purposes there should be anorther trim to include everything (I think we've already seen evidence of this). Time to turn revenue streams on.

However, gotta be some slight price cuts somewhere. Base price won't drop but maybe
some upgrades are cheaper, maybe in line with current battery discounts online? Unless they save these as promo for when inventory is rising.

No quad/tri until fall or even later. At that point R1SX/R1TX. Lidar? Will have max battery and be priced above current max. 100k+.

Going full Eeyore on this:
  • Slightly tweaked exterior
  • Slightly upgraded Driver+ for new vehicles (RIP all of us)
  • Slightly tweaked software, with nearly all features coming 's00n'
  • Slightly tweaked battery (LFP at the low end, smidge more capacity for max)
  • Slightly tweaked efficiency allowing just a bit more range across the board
  • Slightly tweaked wireless charger with a divider so it actually charges sometimes
  • Slightly better cameras that are just a bit better than 'fine, I guess'
  • Slightly more power from tri-motor enduro setup over quad (they'll call this a special name or something)
  • Slightly more useful drawer standard instead of stupid Bluetooth speaker
  • Slightly better charging curve. Now 10-80% in 32 minutes instead of 36!!1!!
And:
  • New wheel designs that are fine.
  • A new color that is fine too. Likely another grey or silver because we can't have too many of those.
  • A new frunk that is ... new
  • A mixed bag on pricing (lower lows, higher highs)
And and:
  • More Rivian profits.

Umm, the new color is going to be a different shade of blue --- again, you heard it from me first.

You will also get different options for woods.

I’m hoping for an upgraded inverter with a higher kW output, but none of the recent rumors have mentioned it.

I predict us preorder voucher holdouts will be disappointed as only base trim dual motor smaller battery vehicles will be available until after 9/30.

Then they would lose more sales and/or lower their margin. The options are where they make the most. They need to sell a lot of vehicles and the economic conditions are only so-so. Holding back on the assumption you will be able to make more later is probably not the best move.

It's probably advantageous for Rivian to not sell any vehicles to voucher holders and just lower their production numbers by one for every holder that doesn't buy. Early in their new cycle, they can probably justify it.

It also might push someone into buying one of the remaining previous model year vehicles because they really didn't want to give up X that isn't available on the new one yet.

My expectations are that only dual motor will be available at "launch", but both performance and non-performance. Every battery option, and the entry trim and adventure trims.
