Configurator has been updated to change EPA estimates on the R1T and remove almost all of the adventure gear options.

New estimates are 289 / 303 / 328

Only thing left for Adventure Gear is the Underbody Shield and the Manual Tonneau cover.

Incidentally I have a confirmed configuration from late last month that has had all of the adventure gear removed. From the recovery gear to the spare tire to the crossbars. Ugh.

Maybe streamlined for them. But sort of annoying for me? Especially having older pricing. I'd have to go back and forth with someone to get it right. And without everything in stock (spare tire, for example) and no way to preorder, it may be a race to try and get one.

Just seems challenging if they make people with existing configurations go through all that.

What is your pre-order date?

What you're showing us isn't pre 01 March pricing, that's the "new normal" pricing. If so, then yes, you're paying more or having your additions removed so folks before you in line can get what they've been waiting years for.

Screen grabs are from current configurator. My order date was Feb of 22, I didn't include any screen grabs from that. My configuration that I confirmed a few weeks ago has adventure gear removed. I'm not too concerned, just find it curious.

Interesting the R1S is the same as R1T on 20 and 22. (289/303) but the 21 it went to 321 which is interesting because the old numbers the R1S was 2 more than the R1T on 21’s where the R1T was 314 and the R1S was 316.

Is this the configurator or the visualizer?

also why doesn’t the 20” wheels say forged?

Good catch. I just checked my second preorder and you're absolutely right on all accounts. Range estimates updated. Most adventure gear gone. Only options are underbody shield and wall charger.

It's definitely the configurator. Visualizer is same with current pricing.

I read somewhere else the 20" are still, indeed, forged but the machining refers to the finish on the wheel faces. Someone please correct me or confirm that.

The adventure gear deletions unfortunately make sense as prices have, indeed, gone up. For example, I noticed the OEM bike racks are just Yakima OEM High Roads that Rivian was selling for $250, I think? Current pricing from Yakima is $278 + shipping. Rivian can't keep selling accessories at the old prices.

It is, however, disappointing the spare is no longer an option with the old pricing, but also understandable given the costs of those have likely increased as well.

I almost feel guilty for having pre-3/1 pricing locked in. Great for us early adopters, but it's gotta be hard for Rivian's finances. Other manufacturers have raised prices significantly as well and we still have price protection after the uproar.

I guess it's a reasonable trade off - goodwill to the early adopters and Rivian can chip away at some older perks and accessories to lower losses and remain more viable.

I sent an email to CS to find out what the deal is, spare is the question for me because they are not in the gear shop, cross bars would be good but I can get them from the gear shop if I really want them.

Asking about range on the R1S, I almost think that should be 331 not 321,,before the T was 314 and rhe S was 316, sense the 20 and 22 show the same between the T and S not sure why the S would go from 2 miles better to 6 miles less.

I’ll update when I hear back.

I feel like they have almost made it through all pre March orders, don’t quite understand why they’re doing it now. They’ve gone this long and honored pricing. Making these cuts, removing the auto tonneau option completely, maybe a wave of more cuts are on the way maybe no flash light, no camp speaker, removing wood options, heck they’re having so many suspension issues maybe no air suspension or make that another tiered option... I just hope I get my truck before it’s any more different from what I ordered.

Keep in mind there are still thousands of pre March Max orders. This is BS. They get slayed for raising the price $20k last March on all preorders. They back track. Now they’re back at it, slowly chipping away in a less conspicuous way to achieve the same exact thing without the same PR nightmare. With zero comms of course. Real classy.

Even putting aside pre-March 1 preorders who live far from service centers, Rivian isn’t anywhere close to making it through all pre-March preorders. Looking just at R1Ss, it appears Rivian has produced just a few thousand to date. I estimate my October 2021 reservation was about their 20,000th R1S preorder (they had about 50,000 total R1 vehicle preorders at that time) — and they currently estimate a Q4 2023 delivery in my case. There were thousands of additional R1S preorders submitted in the five months after mine was submitted and before March 1, 2022.

Even ramping up production markedly, it isn’t clear Rivian will work through all their pre-March 1, 2022 R1 preorders for folks who live near service centers by the end of 2023.

That is strange. They removed my spare and cross bars after “confirming” my order with my guide. I can almost understand the crossbars, but a spare is not just extra gear to most. Kinda important.
