Now late 2025!

I'm sure it's more like they dont have it as a fully developed product to be able to charge for it yet.Are they saying it is so bad that they have to give it away now?![]()
Honestly Gen 1 isn't worth a dime to me and Gen 2 has a long way to go before I'd ever remotely paying for it. Heck, I don't even pay for FSD at $99/month on most of my Teslas and it is likely far better than anything Rivian will have in the next few years.
Now if they want to price it like Connect+, then it might be worth it in some cases. For Gen 1 they should have sent me a voucher to buy a Comma 3X with.
https://rivian.com/support/article/what-features-are-included-in-the-rivian-autonomy-platformAlthough today’s user manual doesn’t indicate that any of the current features are part of a trial, I’m concerned they may later remove Lane Change on Demand from the standard offering. From the start, they clearly labeled which features belonged to the Connect+ trial in all documentation, but there’s no (non-marketing) documentation that describes any of today’s functionality as being part of a trial of any sort - and that rather than marketing is what counts usually. If they strip out features, it could get interesting.
Edit: For clarity none of the following are described as being part of RAP+ anywhere in the actual documentation that accompanies a vehicle purchase.

This is why I said no non-marketing.
Support articles are marketing now? This is why I said no non-marketing.
Support articles can clarify features but aren’t legally binding. When website content conflicts with the official manual you receive at purchase, the manual takes precedence—it’s part of the sale and warranty. I’ll almost certainly just pay up and move on, (assuming I still have a gen2, and that additional features in RAP+ make it worthwhile) but this is a clear oversight by Rivian that could expose them to liability. They got it right with Connect+, but here they dropped the ball.Support articles are marketing now?
+2I have to imagine they need fleet data to continue improving it. They are probably planning to reach a certain feature set before they start requiring subscriptions. Also, its kind of an incentive to help them sell more cars too if folks know it will be free through the end of the year.
Complete speculation of course.
