Rivian Assistant is here!! (Update: not quite yet) (Update 2: it's here!!)

I'm in a loaner R1S that's running 2026.03. It hasn't gotten any updates while I've had it, and yet this afternoon the Rivian Assistant showed up! It replaces Alexa (although it looks like you can disable RA and go back to Alexa if you'd want to do that for some reason) and is pretty slick!

It looks like it includes texting, although I use Google Voice, so it looks like I'll be left out in the cold again on that one

Weird cause I am running (I believe most people are) 2026.03 and it is def not there

Not really new. The code has been deployed for months in A/B testing. The loaner VIN must have been part of the internal group.

The demo a few months back included text messaging.

I literally just saw it too as I was returning the loaner Gen2 R1S. I did check the version on the loaner and it appears to be the same as what we all have running on 2026.03.0. Rivian compass icon at the top menu bar and then showed the ability to set it up. Agreed must be tied to the VIN because it’s not anywhere available in my R1S. Exciting stuff ahead!

Were you able to set up your phone as a key in your loaner? I’ve got a gen2 R1S right now. I hope I get to check out the new stack.

No phone as a key with the loaner that I can figure out - I'm using a key card and paired my phones Bluetooth for phone & audio.

This is cool, but personally I would rather have major UHF improvements so that I can justify paying $50 a month.

It's most likely that Rivian increased the size of the audience in the A/B test and the loaner you were in was part of that increase.
