What are you having installed? PPF, tint, ceramic? Depends on which product you're having installed. Tint might be the only one they can do same day. If you're doing PPF or ceramic or a combination of services, you will definitely not get it back the same day.The nearest installer is 2 hours away from me. Is this usually something you have to drop the car off and come back another time to pick it up or is it something I can wait around while they install it?
Let’s say you’re going to tint the sunroof but be mindful of some concerns re: cracking. For example, my Xpel guy said go no darker than XR+ 55.
How important re: warranty on sunroof glass to use one of the (fewer) Xpel installers listed via Rivian-Xpel hop shown above & below vs. (numerous) other legit Xpel shops listed by Xpel without the hop from Rivian?
Sure about that? I’ll stand by my question -You will get zero warranty coverage for cracked glass bc of tint no matter who you choose.
Very sure. Best of luck getting them to cover a heat/stress cracked roof glass due to tint. That'll be a fun argument to have with them. Yeah it doesn't impact your Rivian warranty bc there is no warranty on glass cracked due to tint. It's not a manufacturing defect.Sure about that? I’ll stand by my question -

I recently had Xpel Fusion PPF applied extensively to a small sports car. They went so far as to remove parts so as few seems as possible were visible which takes a bit longer. Also had all the windows tinted with Xpel tint. It took the shop 3 full days, most of which was for the PPF. I believe they had 3 guys working on it the entire time. The nearest installer is 2 hours away from me. So you’re saying Rivian warranty specifically excludes cracked roof glass with tint, even when obtained/installed via Rivian-Xpel program?Very sure. Yeah it doesn't impact your Rivian warranty bc there is no warranty on glass cracked due to tint. It's not a manufacturing defect.
XPEL's warranty is for defects in their own product. Again, no one is warranting your roof glass from cracking due to tint.
I’m saying there is no warranty given by anyone for cracked roof glass due to tint. Warranties cover manufacturing defects. Heat stress from tint causing a cracked roof is not a defect; it’s a known risk. Rivian (and every other OEM) will tell you “that’s an aftermarket product that caused the glass to crack. XPEL will say “there’s nothing wrong with our tint, you need to take it up with the car manufacturer”.So you’re saying Rivian warranty specifically excludes cracked roof glass with tint, even when obtained/installed via Rivian-Xpel program?
Interestingly, my one Xpel guy on the Rivian shortlist is the one that cited no darker than 55 on sunroof, while my other Xpel guy (long story) who is not on that program said he’ll do any darkness.
When the time comes I’ll have to dig into fine print.

I’d absolutely take steel roof if offered.

Ah dang ok. Seems I’ll have to find a more local PPF installer or just apply 10 coats of graphene ceramic like I did with my PolestarI recently had Xpel Fusion PPF applied extensively to a small sports car. You definitely will be leaving the vehicle at the shop as it is going to take at least two days to apply PPF to all parts. Don't forget they will most likely also wash the vehicle and make sure it is fully dry before they even start on the actual application. I guess if you are only doing the front quarter or something like that it could be done in a day.
In addition to comments from @Jeremy3292 ... you are worrying about an extremely rare event that is unlikely to ever happen. If you go with the ceramic XPEL tint, and don't go too dark, you will have nothing to worry about. So you’re saying Rivian warranty specifically excludes cracked roof glass with tint, even when obtained/installed via Rivian-Xpel program?

Well if nothing else, I certainly wouldn’t have sunroof tint done by anyone not on that Rivian-Xpel shortlist.I’m saying there is no warranty given by anyone for cracked roof glass due to tint. Rivian (and every other OEM) will tell you “that’s an aftermarket product that caused the glass to crack. Now you can probably get your own car insurance to cover it, but you’d have to file a claim to do that.
Yeah I’d do the 55 per Xpel guy on the short list. Blue hue kinda works looking up at sky, at least for passengers. In addition to comments from @Jeremy3292 ... you are worrying about an extremely rare event that is unlikely to ever happen. But just know, no one is covering cracked glass by warranty. It's not happening. Period.
Yes, use XPEL and do 70 on the roof so your risk is lower, but it can still happen. My local tint shop is on the list and is an XPEL top dealer too.Aiming for MY28, so got a year to OCD over the fine print. But at this point, I certainly would only consider sunroof tint using a provider on that Rivian-Xpel short list.
