I've asked (for a friend) to convert the seat air circulator to a vacuum for this issue.I’m going to say the rear drop glass. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve farted in my vehicle, my wife starts complaining, and then I try to air it out to no avail because opening the side windows just blows it around in the backseat like a STANKNADO™. Having that rear drop glass is going to air that cabin out right quick without any of the usual commentary, like “What the hell did you eat?” and “Did we just pass some roadkill?” You’re welcome, honey. Matrix headlamps are definitely awesome. Easily the biggest thing I miss if I drive something other than my Gen2 in the winter time.I suspect my favorite feature will be the matrix (adaptive) headlights.
People often overlook warranty costs with additional features like this. Just plain glass, almost nothing to go wrong that could be a warranty issue. Moving glass has all kinds of concerns, especially one with a defrost circuit.Given the only reason I'm planning to go with the Premium trim over the Standard is the drop glass, that's obviously my favorite feature.
My dream spec...a Standard AWD in Borealis with the drop glass and tow package for ~$54k. I think they've over-priced the Standard AWD trim by $1-2k when comparing the feature set to the Premium trim (and when comparing to Tesla's pricing).
There's a part of me that wonders whether they really will exclude the drop glass from the Standard trim when it's released. The additional manufacturing complexity/engineering cost (and maybe crash testing, etc.) to have two totally different rear hatches doesn't seem worthwhile. I also don't think anyone has seen an R2 with the "standard" hatch in the wild yet...
Make sure you check before closing the garage door though!Same for me. Being able to just stick surfboards in there to drive is nice and no worries of forgetting the boards are on top and pulling into the garage lol
