Came across this from Charge Overland on YouTube.

Plywood modular bed platform with 3D printed angular bracing to turn the rear of the R1S into a level platform with storage.

can anyone elaborate or ELI5 how this thing works? I mean, other than just prints, what are the costs involved? And would they do it at a UPS that has a 3D printer,etc.?

The brackets look pretty unimportant. Mostly to stop things from getting scratched up or damaged. Same thing could be accomplished with a specially sized t-nut and a 90.

Looks like all those supports (grey) were also 3D printed in sections, Probably glued together because of print bed size. But they seem to hold the weight and he said he used them instead of using them as templates to cut from wood. I guess they could be made either way, wood or 3D printed.. I was able to open the provided data and there's really only 3 Unique 3D printed parts (circled in pink) to mount the aluminum structure, the rest can be cut from 3/4" plywood which is nice.. (3rd image orange)

We have an exped medium duo that fits in the back and you can leave the second row up, just slide it forward, so that sleeping platform is super long.

Excited to try this out. This would allow for the use of up to a 50" wide sleeping pad, since the third row armrests won't be in the way. Would just have to make sure the plywood pieces for the 2nd row area are cut a bit wider so the pad doesn't deflect down in those areas. The wider Exped (LW+ size) pads will be a bit too wide around the third row armrest, since they're 52". I just ordered this 50"x78"x4" pad:

I found a few online retailers on Google with cheaper pricing. It appears to be discontinued.

I may also try to incorporate drawer slides instead of boxes, if I can figure out a way to do that while still maintaining access to the storage area below.

Has anyone been able to actually build this?
I have all of the parts printed, and extrusion cut, but hung up on getting this bracket in the rail.

I unbolted the whole rail, expecting it to lift up so I can slide the bracket in.
The rail seems to stay in place, so I can't get this bracket in there.
Any tips on how to get the Rail up or out, after I removed the 3 bolts inside of it?
Maybe I'm missing somewhere.

Nice Setup. I would have probably gotten that if it was available before I invested in making it. looks like they were heavily "inspired" by the original design.
