Needed a little ‘overflow space’ for an upcoming trip, wasn’t looking to break the bank for a cargo rack as I’m still kind of waiting to see how I’ll be using this truck (had it for seven months now).

Was researching overland boxes, etc, then racks. Came across the MaxxHaul 70115 on Amazon… looked passable, found out it was the same as the Harbor Freight HaulMaster Cargo carrier, which was $100. Didn’t have a coupon, but oh well… ;)

My main concern was the fixed bed crossbars not being ‘adjustable’ to match the mounting method of this cheap-ass rack. Turns out, 33” OC is just about perfect, and it fits.

So, I’ve done the dirty work and put a cheap Harbor Freight rack on my Rivian so you don’t have to… unless you want to… and now you know. ;)

Looks great! I'll definitely be picking one up myself as I'll only need it a handful of times per year and was hesitant to fork over $500+

Yeah, it’s pretty basic but fits about perfect. I just added a couple cans of Rustoleum Truck Bed Liner to it, not sure it needed it though. It’ll fit the bill for what I need/may need it for, and then decide if I want to go further. Toss it on top of the teen’s Mazda 6 when I’m done with it… ;)

Yeah, I’m not sure the ‘need’ is there yet, the trip north into Canada in a couple weeks will determine that. The cab will be full of me, my wife and three kids, so overflow storage beyond baggage and boating/fishing/etc when we hit grocery/Costco for 10 days at a lake cabin with seven other peeps is likely necessary.

I actually sat for a minute and thought about which direction to place the rack wind deflector… lol! Forward makes most aerodynamic sense, but back makes a great place for stickers. ??‍♂

I actually did the same thing! Needed the space for a cross country drive, PA to CA. We were bringing out baby things for my wife’s cousin. This worked great going across the country for the luggage. I ditched that “aero” piece though…just didn’t need it and wanted to be able to use any bar to strap items down.

I got so many comments on it, people loved it…I always just said this was just from harbor freight, but it does work great for what I’m using it for, and cheaper than shipping any of the items across the country!

edit* added pics…sadly these are the only two I took.

Yes, I also think a cargo basket on the crossbar is a very good idea.
For the last camping trip, I also had the overflow issue and I decided to get the "Inno Shaper 100 Roof Cargo Basket - Channel Mount" instead. I needed something that's aluminum so it's much easier to move around.

I reused my old roof top cargo bag and it fits perfectly. Loaded with all the sleeping bags and camp table and stuff for the trip and didn't notice any efficiency loss.

Does the Inno Shaper fit into our T channels fine? I just came across it and it seems perfect for m needs

Yes it does. I kept it on all the time now since it doesn’t affect range at all.
