Has there been any update on this in the last flurry of outreach by Rivian? I can see it working OTA, like everything else. But wondering if there is a hardware action that needs to be taken. Hope it comes soon.

They haven't said anything other than its coming soon. I doubt the hardware is in the car. It'll be streaming.

I think it has already been confirmed, there is no antenna for satellite in the truck. If the antenna was there, and they are using SDR (software defined radio), then an OTA would work.

A simple solution would be for Rivian to open its USB-C ports to third party devices (including SXM radio) but since there would be no revenue stream by doing so I doubt this will ever happen.

Follow Rivian on all the major social platforms. Make sure your email address is on their mailing list. Make sure their email addresses are excluded from your spam filters. Do all these things and if you don't see any announcements, it hasn't yet happened.

I'm sure SXM will coincide with paid subscription for data. It will be app based (same as implementation in Lucid). For now, I just stream SXM from my phone via BT.

The thing is, if you go with the basic "streaming only" package from SXM it's (IIRC) only $5.99/month and you can stream it to you PC and phone (which you connect via BT to our Rivian's). As soon as you tell SXM it's specifically going to a vehicle they try to double the monthly rate. Let's hope Rivian only gives us the ability to use the SXM app not forcing us to add a new VIN/radio device at $13+/month.

Just got 3 years of SXM (vehicle and app) for $99 (around $120 after fees/taxes).

There are always deals, you just have to chat with customer service (usually 2 or 3 tries) to get them.

Did you get all channels or is that the package with some stations "restricted".

If you got "all-access", that is hard to beat. Best I ever got was $3/month ($36/year) before taxes for app and vehicle and that was a restricted package.

What is the plan for $5.99/month? Currently paying $5/month for the "all-access" which looks to be $9.99 normally, but got a 1 year promo. I couldn't see another app only package besides the $9.99 package.

It's the $9.99/month plan that you get for $5.99/month when you call to cancel ;)
