What's everyone's plan for winters? Historically on our XC90 we have two sets of tires, one of them being winters tires that we change out onto the OEM rims each season

I'm thinking might get the 21 Roads and get a set of 20in winter tires and wheels so at least in the summer we don't get hit with any range penalties. But I'm torn with this option because I liked the idea of maybe getting one of the darks but don't want the ATs (I'm skeptical about AT tires in snow, we do long road trips in Quebec to visit family)

Lots of threads on this with good info, have a poke at the search box.

if I was doing 21” or 22” wheels, I’d get a second set of 20” wheels with Nokian R5 in 275/60R20, which is the same overall diameter as Rivian’s 21” and 22” options.

you could always get the 20” at and change to a more highway oriented tire in the same size as original.

im sticking with 20” all terrains because it is a common size and will be good enough for winter. I have never bothered with anything more than severe service rated AT for a truck tire in winter, the few people i know who’ve used dedicated winters on trucks have switched back to severe service(3PMS) all terrain tires. Don’t want to deal with another set of 34” dia. tires/wheels.

Yeah i've done extensive searching on the forum and I'm still undecided, so I turned to my fellow Canadian brethren who have to deal with the same climate lol.

I've ruled out the 21s for the time being. I could just do the 20s, but really dislike the constant hit on range I'll experience.

Aesthetically I like the 22s the most, so might just get those and buy the Nokian winter tires to go along with them (although I'm just not crazy about winter tires being on 22s in general)

In a perfect world there would have been an AS road option in 20s that way I'd just but winters on those 20s

I was just browsing the official websites of various tire manufacturers - Nokian, Conti, Michelin, Pirelli and Bridgestone and came across just a couple of winter tire options for 22.
(I know 20s will have more options but I cannot sacrifice on range for such a heavy vehicle.)

Nokian - Hakkapelittta R5
Bridgestone - Blizzak DM V2

The 20 ATs are Winter Rated tires (Snow peak rated). So, you can technically run them year-round.

So do 20”, ditch the AT tires for a more road friendly tire in the same diameter

My R1T came with 21" All Seasons and looking for 20" winters (tire & wheel package) from a tire place with Rivian experience. Any recommendations on a tire place in the lower mainland with Rivian experience?

I did the ram 1500 wheel thing with Nokian LT3 in 265/60r20 to get the same circumference as the stock 22s. The ram wheels were hard to find in bc.
