Where Are the OEM Replacement Parts (For Repairs)?

This was 3/1/25. other driver started a uturn without looking. The repair quote is over $20k. The Rivian (and Chubb insurance) - approved auto body shop and I have been waiting for a front bumper wiring harness since 3/22. I want my truck working again. $20k is ridiculous, but that’s for another post. If the factory is/was shuttered, wouldn’t there be a wiring harness available?

I have a similar problem at a much smaller scale. Tire shop damaged the under body plastic panel around the lifting puck hole. They’re having a hard time finding the replacement piece through Rivian because they’re not an authorized repair shop. There doesn’t seem to be any way to simply buy parts Even when you have the part number.

Suggestions are welcome.

@Joe Hoffman if you show up at a service center and try to order them I would hope they would selll them to you. They are a cosmetic item which I would hope Rivian would sell.

@arcane Sorry to hear of your experience. I am in a similar holding pattern for a passenger side front door for a 2024 R1S. Its been on order for about a month. The shop had 5 Rivians waiting on doors when I dropped off...they were down to three the last time I talked to them but its been on order since 4/1...dropped off at Rivian certified facility on 3/26. Rivian did agree to provide us a loaner...it was a real hassle getting them to approve it. We are thankful to them though. My concern is that the current tariff situation will make things worse for the supply chain...time will tell.

While this might not be the place to jump in with the reply, but BZN Parts on eBay has all kinds of item parts from damaged vehicles.

Is this what owners can expect once vehicles are out of warranty and they prefer to make their own repairs?

Have you tried ordering the part yourself? They will most likely sell it to you. Their system requires the part order to be added to your account as a service ticket so they only sell to the owner or authorized service shops. The one time I needed a part they were happy to help.

We really need a way to be able to order parts ourselves for the things we should be able to fix "No high voltage components are understandable" that's saying thought the parts are available.

Hey @arcane , @Joe Hoffman, others - having been working on a salvage restore of a Gen 1 R1S for a few months I thought I'd weigh in.

Definitely start with eBay- the amount of parts there grows every day. Right this moment it looks like eBay only has broken bumper/fascia wiring harnesses BUT if the connector(s) you need are on the broken one, snatch it up for cheap and splice them on! Should take you or your mechanic no time. Please note that some official Rivian service centers will reject your splices and tell you they have to replace the whole harness. In my experience my shrink wrapping is better than the OEM ad-hoc wrapping and they've not noticed. Please let me know if I can help you with this! It may be easier/faster than you think.

OEM Parts: DM me and I can help you with the Rivian partner portal. You only need a registered business, LLC, etc and they'll give you acccess. This doesn't help if the part is back ordered. Still, it looks like your harness, @arcane, is $131 directly from Rivian, whenever they have it. The second part is related to the camera and probably not needed if yours is intact.

@arcane, $20k IS ridiculous. What else are they replacing or charging you for? In my experience, the service centers and Rivian-certified shops are full of VERY nice people who are doing their best but, sadly, are hamstrung by part shortages and strict warranty policies. In my situation, which is somewhat unique on this forum, I've gotten way more done, way faster, way cheaper, on my own and by using mechanics unaffiliated with Rivian.

I did not try. I didn’t do the damage so I hate to get involved, but I’m fearing that may be the only way.

Thanks for looking into this. i’m definitely not a DIY owner, and an independent mechanic may be useful one day, but the truck is already in the shop, they’re not going to acceptand install a part from me..

I was really just venting and trying to learn about repair parts generally.

@Riptonite, that is AMAZING. I would love to know more. Are these all from auction? Somewhere else? You doing the work yourself?

I may take you up on the parts if they are still available. I'm almost done with a DIY restoration. I'd likely take a front passenger air shock if the price is right, An air pump hose kit if you end up with an extra. I'll know more in a week.
