dear Rivian, when you make the bed can you make it so that it's 1 piece or have panels that are sealed well? on my 07 ridgeline, there's a gap between the bed floor and sides which allow water and debris to get to places that it shouldn't be and cause rusting (inside the rear quarter panels).

the Prototype truck from the show a couple years back seemed to have essentially a single piece composite bed, with no real gaps visible.

It’s also mostly aluminum, so rust shouldn’t be a significant concern.

good to hear. it's not the rust inside the bed, it's more the water passing through any gaps and getting trapped in the sub structure.

Hoping the tonneau cover it 100% water tight.

they never are.... maybe when brand new, but every one ive had has leaked at some point. that what was awesome about ridgeline's trunk, could stash stuff in there.

Maybe Rivian will have a fix for the ever-leaking cover

None of them are 100% water tight in all conditions, but typically it is very little water that makes its way inside (drips, not streams). Usually it's also under specific conditions, like being parked at an angle, wind blowing it in, or even some driving scenarios when in the rain.

I've had retractable tonneaus with several different designs on my last several trucks, and all of them are great at keeping things dry, but none are perfect. Best bet is to keep anything sensitive up off the bed by even 1/2" and away from the very edges.

Don't forget about the frunk. That will be watertight and might be a perfect place to stash stuff.

And that's the key here for OPs complaint - Stuff you keep inside the bed may get a drip of water here and there. But there won't even be enough water in the bed to collect in exposed nooks and crannies to cause issues.
