There is no point waving at the ladies driving a S. But dudes driving a T? You have to wave. A dude in a S is 50/50, so I think a wave is appropriate. Even if not returned, it has a good chance of being appreciated.

The brand has been taken over by soccer Mom's driving the R1S on 21's with the free cargo crossbars by me. R1T dudes are your only chance if you expect someone to wave back. I don't care either way but the shift is pretty obvious.

So to all in the Northern Virginia area, if you see a Gen 1 silver R1S and just happen to drive up and notice me driving with my wife in the front passenger seat, just pull up and say “Hi Chris.” It will make her day.

There's a part of me that just started heading for the door to begin the 800 mile drive! Then I remembered that my wife is currently driving the R1T. So, some other time. But it's on the list!

Gen1 Rivians can! With the turn signal around the oval headlight, you half tap the turn signal left then right. It flashes the left one once and cancels the following two.

Just want to say yesterday my wife & I went to enjoy one of our favorite burger places in a small town here in VA, ~ 50 miles west of DC. As I pulled up to park on Main St, I noticed a silver R1S on the other side of the road about to pull out.

I waved, and she waved back, to which my wife replied “why is that lady waving at you?!??”…

I have had poor results with the wave. I have not seen many R1s pass with an opportunity to wave, but when I have, I either missed the response or there was none. Sad. I will keep doing it, though!

We still see a high proportion of waves in the Northwest, but only outside of the Seattle area.

My hypothesis is that once Rivians comprise more than about 0.2% of total vehicles, they seem less special.
