Warning Light Question

Quick search didn’t turn anything up and I’m not seeing it in the users guide. The yellow light is the LDW malfunction warning light. Does anyone know what the red steering wheel light is? Shows up intermittently.

I saw someone ask here (I looked as well and could not find it). I was looking as well, as I get this alert about 50% of the time. It always prevents use of ACC and Highway Assist.

I don't think so. There is an ever so slight pull and the wheel is off a very small amount. But others have had alerts specifically telling them that they need an alignment.

Alignment is good on our truck as well, or good enough and no worse than any other car I’ve ever driven

Thanks. Prevents ACC for me as well. Wonder if I should put in a ticket just so I can ask service about it.

Service rep told me it’s a power steering malfunction light. Steering is fine so it must be another spurious warning.

Modern cars could make this so much easier if they got the UI right. On a car with a digital instrument cluster like we have on the Rivian, they should include the pictogram AND the word(s) describing the issue based upon the language chosen by the driver in the system. Maybe even provide a shortcut to the relevant section of the manual in the central display for reference? The technology should be working for people, not the other way around.

Coincidentally, I had the same conversation with a service rep this evening. I also don't have any steering issues (though I have thought that the steering boost seems like it varies day-to-day).

Well, Rivian recently told a customer to "bring your vehicle to the SC" to replace a blown fuse of all things (because there are no circiut labels on the fuse box cover or in the owners manual like every other car has had since... forever). With that in mind, I wouldn't get hopes up for better malfunction indicators. It seems like many of these systems were hastily thrown together (perfect example the necessity to have cell service for infotainment on an off road/overlanding/off-grid "adventure" vehicle) or just used directly as is from the prototype R1T.
