The notes don't indicate the underlying maps are changing...only place search.

seconding what @zefram47 said. The way I understand these notes, we'll only be interacting with the results of Google Maps's search API; those results will then feed address/lat+long data into Rivian's navigation suite.

From my understanding it will remain the same as it is today but will slowly migrate over to Google over the course of a few OTA updates.

It's crazy how frequent each update is and how they're making meaningful improvements each update. I know people are frustrated 'xyz' isn't fixed, but you gotta give credit to the rivian team for investing so much into these updates.

I completely agree. I've had my R1T for nearly a year and it is like a different vehicle with the improvements they've made. It is much improved.

All around nice improvements. Nothing earth shaking but nice none the less.

I like seeing Google search in the navigation but I’d still prefer they just go with Google Maps or Waze so we can get decent traffic reporting. Of course I really want Waze for speed trap warnings. Of course I REALLY REALLY want CarPlay/AndroidAuto support..

Not having my truck yet, was search the bigger issue or navigation guidance.. or both?

I would say both to some degree but search was the larger issue for me. Being unable to locate a business thats named on the map, sending me to the street behind an address, consistently routing me to Costco 20 miles away when there's one 3 miles away. Navigation wise it's been okay for some routes and less so for others. The traffic data doesn't update all that quickly and things like temporary 1-2 day road closures don't show up like they do in Google from what I've seen.

I find it weird that they still haven't fixed cycling through radio presets using the steering wheel buttons. This was broken a few updates ago, and so the buttons work more like a tune/seek dial...which is kind of useless IMO.

Otherwise nice update. I've been happy with the progress in the 9 months of ownership.
