Summer Production Shut Down

Guide told me yesterday production will be shutdown the week of July 4th. Typical of all auto manufactures. They shutdown for a week during the summer. Guide said they’ll still continue deliveries and offices will still be working. Just an FYI if people start seeing a slow down in production briefly

No big deal, they could shutdown first week of every month right now and still build the same amount of units each month. Hopefully supply chains will greatly improve second half of the year.

By the way, even Toyota has stated this week that they are dropping thier July production estimates by 50k units because of supply chain issues.

Would be interesting to see what changes Rivian is making (if any) to their production process since there are no model year changes being made...

Hopefully they fix the stamping for the roof that apparently affected all the early builds since mine will be made after the break!

German werkers get a minimum of 20 paid vacation days off, so they often close their factories there for 2 weeks in the summer. This can create massive traffic jams as they all head south to the Mediterranean at the same time.

1 week off here, no big deal. Let the supply chain catch up some.

FYI, I get zero paid time off. Yes, that includes no sick leave too. If I'm not at work, my employer can't bill the customer. It's common practice in the construction industry. Fortunately, I get compensated well for when I am at work.

The Hummer EV line at factory zero is shutting down June 26 to July 22. Getting ready to really ramp up, add Silverado EV etc.

Completely agree they can take a week off and not impact their monthly production figures. At least this allows the delivery centers a week to catch up a little.

I wonder if on Thursday there will be a big delivery event as it is the end of the month and quarter.

When do you suggest a plant does maintenance etc if not on summer shutdown?

Most places I’ve worked shut down for two weeks.
