Valet Mode - All Purpose mode + max speed 55mph, acceleration reduced, lock front trunk, charge port door, gear tunnel, tonneau cover, and tailgate. Pin required to disengage mode.

Admittedly, there is no way I'm tossing my fob to valet, but figured this would get the thread and format started.
Why don’t you want the valet charging the car? I’ve had that done and it’s nice. No getting up in middle of night to move car to start or stop driving.

What would that look like? Driver assist because of no thumbs for steering wheel and can’t reach pedals. Auto stop at fire hydrants, bushes and discarded food. Automatic following of squirrels and deer. What else?

Garage parking mode: enables coasting when letting off the throttle and removes regen braking so you can ease the car into tight fitting garages. Better still would be auto self park in remembered spaces.

I would like it to automatically drive my dog to my shop when I'm having a bad day at work. Nothing cheers me up like lil' dave.

Great point Mike! I've amended the Valet description, as it does make perfect sense.

My mind went only as far as recalling my favorite summertime job as a teenager, valeting fancy cars at a 5-star restaurant. The fancier the car, the closest to the entrance it was parked. Boss's rule. Pretty sure he wanted to keep a an eye more on us driving those sports cars than make the restaurant look like it was packed with high rollers. One time we had a guy drive his brand new Lamborghini straight from the dealership to the restaurant. His family hadn't even seen it until they arrived. Needless to say, we let him park it himself "upfront" that night.

And I certainly don't need any other reasons for getting up in the middle of the night.

With the initial 8 Drive Modes at launch, and now a 9th (Car Wash Mode) rolling out via 2022.11.2 OTA update, I'm curious what other drive modes this community can inspire Rivian to build next.

I'll plan to update this first post to include all suggestions, along with that post's upvotes (keep suggestions one per post).

Thanks to @kanundrum for first sharing that awesome Rivian Drive Modes video. If you haven't seen it yet, highly recommend widescreen viewing with volume up.

+1 for teenager mode

And Precision parking mode. Remap accelerator pedal for more precise control in the 0-2MPH range and instantly stop the vehicle via negative torque when it detects increased resistance from bumping into something.

And a few other modes that Rivian should (but definitely will not) add.

Auto Launch mode - when the driver presses go pedal all the way down nothing happens until the light turns green - and when it does turn green, the car delivers a perfect launch every time.
  • If Driver+ is not able to identify lights, display the forward camera on the screen and the driver can use the touchscreen to identify the light.
  • For safety, if green light is not detected within 2 seconds, the launch is canceled and the car won't move until you release the pedal and re-engage.
  • If people start getting suspicious of 0.000 RT launches, add an adjustable delay.
  • Feature can be geofenced to known dragstrips if the lawyers object to the possibility of using this on public roads.
No tickets mode - car won't go faster than speed limit (+/- programmable offset) regardless of pedal input. Can be overridden by briefly pressing the accelerator to 100%.

Pretend to be an ICE truck mode. Blast engine noise out the external pedestrian speaker and cabin speakers, periodically pause acceleration to make it feel like you are shifting gears, and limit 0-60 to 6+ seconds. Dropdown menu with different vehicles you can emulate the sound/gear shift timing/acceleration of. Enabling this mode will also force the driver visit a gas station periodically and will charge the CC on file $100 each visit. $$ will be donated to climate change related charity.

Meh, just take your kid to a place that's appropriate for this stuff and teach them how to handle the car at full power and high speed. Nothing will make them more prepared for anything that might come their way then practicing at the most dangerous.

I learned to drive on a stick in an ice-covered parking lot. Way better than learning any other way, IMO. I was instantly prepared for how to deal with the worst possible driving conditions I'd face.
I learned this way too and then wrapped my first car around a tree because I wanted to place race car. Preparation is no match for hormones and teenage stupidity. No way I’d give my kid 900ftlbs of torque regardless if they drove slow in a icy parking lot.

I wasn't driving slow lol, I was doing donuts and drifting by the time I left that parking lot. Never ever had an issue where I couldn't recover on ice after that.

Everyone is different, both students and teachers ?
