Tysons R2 Demo Drives

Maybe a dumb question, but I have a R2 reservation (order window Aug-Sep) which would be my first EV. Although I want to do a demo drive, the combo of typical heavy Tysons traffic plus figuring out one pedal driving for the first time, plus having to navigate a pre-defined route (I've heard some places are doing this, some aren't) makes me nervous to do a demo drive. Anyone else in my situation, or have done a demo already, and can speak to the experience?

Our R1S was our first EV and we did our test drive on the streets of Brooklyn - You'll be fine in the Tysons area. And remember, one-pedal driving doesn't mean there's no brake. You'll be able to put your foot on the brake and stop at any point. If anything, it will stop a lot faster than your ICE because you'll have regen AND brake pads slowing you down. As soon as you realize there's no coasting when you take your foot off the accelerator you'll figure it out. It will be smooth for you before you get to the end of the first block.

Book a test drive - you won't regret it. At the King of Prussia Rivian Space they told me that there are very limited signup options online, but if you go into the Space you'll be able to schedule one easily. While there weren't any slots available the day we were there, we got the time we wanted two weeks later when we'd be back (it's an hour from us).

Yeah, I’ll echo what @KBabione said. I took my first-ever test drive of an EV when I drove an R1T. It was a pre-defined route in Gaithersburg (probably the same route everyone here took through the Gaithersburg SC), and I had zero problems with 1-pedal driving. I actually had the hang of it before we left the property.

One pedal is nothing to worry about. It’s like a golf cart. Press to go faster. Ease back (but not lift your foot off) to go slow. More power or less power, like a radio volume knob. By end of session you’ll be smoother than at the start. You might actually find it easier to master and more predictable when set at high.

I test drove the R2 at Tysons and Glen Burnie. Tysons did have a pre-defined route and I had no problems however I much preferred Glen Burnie due to less traffic and not having to walk all around the mall to get to the parking garage where the Rivian vehicles for demo are located. Glen Burnie R2 space was by itself in the back of the entire area and I much prefer this space. I do not like the Tysons for the exact reasons you mentioned and the location in a busy mall. Glen Burnie was totally different atmosphere, no crowd and overall space and location no congestion. I pray they let me pick up my R2 here and not Tysons. One more note Tysons let you do the demo drive by yourself and someone goes with you at Glen Burnie.
