Been eyeing Milwaukee packout system for a while, so I figured I’d use them to create a modular tool box solution...

good idea. A friend of mine is considering a Rivian, but they currently have a decked system that they need for work.

This is an interesting option that could fit the bill as an interim solution for contractors until Rivian gets a true deck box.

Thank you!

Been asking for an owner to pull the round disk in the bed to check for bolts/nuts for a month and no one responded.

Thanks to you I can see that I can attach some L track and front wheel chocks behind the bed!

So what’s behind the panel? Do you have a picture?
Ugh, sorry. Took a snap of the behind the panel but lost it….

Two sections:

the section that houses the bed cover tracks is aluminum - top 8 inches…

rest is not sure what metal (painted) prob steel

there’s abt 1/4 of room behind the raised sections of panel. Panel itself is abt 4-5mm thick.

there’s also a ~10mm hole with a grommet on it to get through the rear wall into the cab. Future video on ham radio antenna will cover that….

Very cool. Thanks for posting! I’ve been wanting to remove the side plastic covers to see if an expandable rack rod will have room to fit across front of bed.

I would love to see what the bed looks like with all the bed plastics off.

Some more insight on pulling the cover off…

for even more strength, you could absolutely pull the eight bolts out, make a bracket that seats down in the divot and then rises proud of the panel, but still gets held in with the stock bolts. These could support any heavy duty frame for racks etc….

I did this since it was faster and since the weight of the packouts was being carried on the bottom; they are flush to the floor lip of the panel so rivnuts are mostly holding things up against the wall, not carrying the load inside the packouts…hopefully. :|

Thanks for the descriptions! Did it look like the bed cover housing was accessible at all? Ie another access panel or anything?

yes, there are the two long panels on the side rails on the side of the bed. Removable, lessons learned there in next post…

then there are covers in each forward corner. easy to remove.

Then there is a cover over the whole length of the bed cover retractable panels housing… haven’t taken that off yet. My guess is to service you’re pulling off the panel I messed with and probably the top plastic, but not sure.

Will be looking forward to that one. Won't have a truck for a good long while, but have been trying to figure out what the best way to mount one will be. That and CB since it still gets used quite a bit in group trail runs.
