I learned from the service guys that it also works off proximity if your phone is loaded as being "paired" with the vehicle. Within about 10-12 feet.
I have 'phone as a key' turned off but the phone still paired via BT. There is no proximity unlock when approaching the truck, though the rear lights flash briefly.

Try turning phone as a key on and bluetooth off. That still unlocked it.

I'm not sure how that is even possible. The vehicle and phone use Bluetooth determine proximity. Without it, you can still unlock the truck with your phone manually, but I see no technical way for it to work automatically without Bluetooth...

Newest most annoying thing for me: OTA Update forgot that I had the 120V system on. Luckily I didn't have perishables in the fridge in my truck, but definitely an annoyance that I didn't notice it was off until this morning.
