$45000, divided by let s say $5 a gal; = 9,000 gal
so @ 9k galLon’s let say you get 15miles per gallon. That’s 9000x15= 135,000 miles.

my point is that 45k gives you a lot of gas. Im not buying the max truck for looks, or environmental reasons. I’m buying because I need a work truck that is also fun to drive and I can afford to pay a premium. But if they cancel the max battery, then I’m out. I don’t need a 300 miles daily driver, I already have two.
F150 lightning work truck is for this case. Works best for the tradesman doing high mileage and returning to base each night.

Current model v6 is rated 20mpg 🤷‍♂️

when we had a 2003 with the then new yeah, it’s got a hemi… it did like 8 on the highway 🥲
Mine is a 2009 hemi. 4th gen but only 5 speed.

They're suppose stop put in the v6 turbo. I'm not sure if it made it into 2013 or not but it'll be the game changer. That and the 30 gallon tank.

The F150 Lightning gets 270 miles if you are lucky in the expressways, if you are towing 140 miles.

I'm inclined to think that Rivian will go the other way and eliminate the "standard" battery pack and the "Large" will become the default pack (it is sort of already). The "Max" will be offered in some form or another to give people the choice.

We are getting closer and closer to 2023. It's pretty rare that car manufacturers don't make ANY changes to a new model year (the notable exception was the 2007 Cayenne)...so I predict there will be changes coming and announced soon as 2023.....

There is a huge commercial truck market, that stays in a two county area and does 200 miles a day. And 20,000 year. They don't tow frequently and when they do it's from the nearest rental yard. They often have a dump truck or something in their inventory to tow with anyways. And much of this is suburban/urban at congestion speeds.

It's not for everyone, but the numbers pencil out for the contractors. The ER is also available. 320 miles. And most contractor trailers that they'd use a f150 for are only a 40 percent reduction (ie landscape, small cargo)

But I agree, it's not for everyone.

My Father had a V10 Ram. The mileage was hilariously bad.

They are offering the standard pack with dual motors as a way to meet a price point.

I heard a rivian employee shaped bird chirping that the max pack is based on 800V architecture and feature the new in-house motors.
Don't tease us like that! The name of the game is, Lowered Expectations not Get Your Hopes Up.

This is what I've been hypothesizing since they announced the coming 800V architecture. It only makes sense since 180 kWh pack is massive and being limited to 400V and 500A means ~220 kW max. That said, I hope Rivian also increases the capacity of the cooling system or those benefits will be for naught.

Yeah this is similar to something that I heard (but was a little more vague). The idea being that the 800V architecture will be the big upgrade and with it comes the possibility of the larger battery pack, faster charging etc. Whether it's still called "max pack" or something else.

Remember that you don't need an 800 volt architecture (motors, inverters,... )to charge at 800 v.

Heard this "rumor" too, but that puts you into 2024. Never from a reliable source yet.
