Interesting Do you happen to have the timestamp for that part of the video? I have watched the video twice but don’t remember any mention of the infotainment computer being the same. I thought all the computer(including the infotainment) was new and much much faster. This also contributes to the much improved reduction in phantom drain.
I likewise was watching again today and he didn't say one way or another if it was the same.

When he was looking at the new modules they showed that the new ADAS unit shares a housing with the infotainment computer. It's liquid cooled. But didn't say much about the infotainment part of it.

When Kyle was in the vehicle he said it felt snappier. (Doesn't necessarily mean anything, that could just be software tuning)

Went to go look at a gen 2 today at the Denver showroom. Snapped up a gen 1 this evening for my wife. The doors are a downgrade, alleged improvements in autonomous driving does nothing for me, and the large battery is actually a large battery. Gonna lease it while we gauge how well the brand improves with their questionable communication and service record.

Just used my voucher on a Dual Max! Exactly the color combo I wanted white on white. A $95k car for $68k after the $7500 EV tax credit is a crazy good deal for a 420 mile EV.

Having 2 EVs and one charge plug, I am too lazy to plug in a different car every 2 nights. This max pack will probably last a week of commutes between charges which basically matched my old gas car and is well worth the mental energy it saves.

Looking for it now and I may have quoted the wrong video so that’s on me. I just finished watching the CNET video filmed at the Palo Alto location and the lab lately clearly states that upgraded hardware is for Autonomy. This whole 10x more is all for AI and self driving.

The CPU that does The AI is not the same one that does the internal screens and UI. Which is also mentioned in the video by the lab lady.

All they did in terms of change when it comes to hardware was reducing the amount of smaller ecu located in separate areas of the car and now combined in same component is less locations in the vehicle (all explained in the cnet video) and This reduced weight and wire usage. All the thing that have been confirmed as coming is software stuff and everything confirmed not coming is Automated stuff (AI hardware).

I will keep looking for the reference video where it was indeed confirmed ?

Those of us that pre-ordered prior to March 2022, but still have not placed an order now have vouchers. There used to be reduced pricing in the shop, but recently Rivian decided to move to a voucher system instead.

With a high residual in a lease I bet your payments aren’t much!

Yeah the things you use all the time.
I was hoping to do the same but I can't tolerate Gen1 R1S ride quality. It's purely subjective and I think dependent on what you currently drive or have driven. Since my daily driver is the BMW iX, I need the reported improved ride quality.
yeah I never drove the first gen S but we got the truck so it wasn’t really a concern. Personally I think they all kind of ride poorly compared to a proper truck with tuned coilovers. Air IMO has no place in a suspension.

Smart. Leasing is a safe option, especially for EVs right now as they depreciate the fastest that will be compounded even more with the fast moving tech. At the end of the lease and if the company's health is to your liking then there's always the buy out option.

Buying a New EV right now, one will surely be left holding the bag that's heavier than usual. Now that the vouchers are phasing out, the temporary life support of being immune from massive depreciation will come to an end.

I think we'll continue to see a decline throughout this year in the used and new automotive space, while the bulk of any sales will be largely due to fed+state combined incentives.

They told me that they’re estimating a 75% residual on quad motors after three years. I haven’t gotten the paperwork to verify but that’s insane if they think it’ll be worth that in 2027.

75% is crazy. That's a for sure without a doubt, lease 100%.

Please keep us updated as I'm very curious what residual value they'll end up giving you. The avg has been 58%-63% tops from what I've seen.
