If its verizon I am totally alright with that, have done some speed tests in almost all parts of the USA verizon hands down has the best network especially in places that are co-located with a RAN charger.
Have you see the map T-Mobile boasts and compares to Verizon? Haha

Regardless, Rivian is using AT&T.

The module is setup for AT&T. It can work on others in a pinch. Would be acceptable, but not great on Verizon. Would be poor on T-mobile.

It's ok, it's a cheap module. I just hope it's swappable for an easy 5g upgrade.

Makes no difference to me if you can always hook up your truck to mobile hotspot.
On a related note, should we generally expect the external shark fin antenna to offer better reception than a cell phone located inside the cabin?

IIRC the antennas are near headliners so I doubt any extension is needed but maybe if you are on a road trip and need a few more dbm of range.

Since we're all now complaining about the wireless network Rivian is using, how about complaining about the entertainment system options that rely on a wireless network? For a vehicle claiming to be all about adventure, it's kinda nuts that they don't even have the ability to connect your phone via a wired connection instead of just crappy audio quality with bluetooth. Even staying on roads, AT&T's network *SUCKS* in the mountains here in Colorado. Start playing off-road and you'll basically never have signal. The only vehicle in my fleet that I've left XM radio enabled is my 4Runner because of how often I have no cell service. I also haven't heard if we have a Spotify Premium account whether there's a way to download music to the truck like we can to our phones. But hey...all this would be solved by, I don't know...CarPlay? :p

What choice do they have? Verizon won't play / isn't competitive in any OEM/bulk market. T-Mobile keeps att honest about prices. Att wins most of the OEM business. It's not surprising.

I would push them to allow wifi to hotspot.
