Do y’all remember about the mention of being able to have more control of the speedo screen? I would like to be able to move the elements on the screen around to see what I want better through the steering wheel. anyone hear this and potential eta ?

One of the recent updates added a page to the left side of the screen - it’s now 4 instead of 3 pages. I forget which page was added; media?

You can't configure stuff like that in the present software.

I do like the additions Rivian has made… have hopes, too, to allow user to change default panels.

I've been "doing Rivian" since before 2021. I don't recall anything even semi official discussing user configurable dashboards.

Totally agree.
On one occasion when our R1S had to go back for a fix we got a Landrover Defender for a week, (just for ?’s & giggles). But I loved having a) the speedo reading in the middle of the screen & b) the sat nav surrounding it.
To me the current centre infographic of the car & surrounding vehicles is a bit of a gimmick, as the only thing that is actually useful is emphasising what’s to the side & behind me. We can clearly see the cars in front out of the windscreen, so at the very least they should adjust that graphic to prefer the sides & behind.

Purely an example, but the Ionic5 N instrument cluster changes when in sport mode, it would be nice to see something similar, or at least bespoke to each drive mode. Ideally a choice between the current standard, and "drive mode bespoke" clusters.

They have touched on a bit of a revamp of the cluster etc coming this year.

"Will Rivian introduce new customization options for screens and gauges?
Wassym: Yes. Rivian plans to launch a redesigned gauge cluster in 2025, along with more customization options for the main screen and off-road controls."

Unfortunately, I think these ev cos are married to that animated screen. I feel like it’s a big waste of real estate - seems more like an ev party trick and not all that helpful. I suspect the lack of user customization allows them to delude themselves into how helpful it is: if you give people options, you prob get a diff bit of data

Anyone that’s owned a Range Rover and prob a number of other high end vehicles will miss the driver screen customization offered.

Hopefully Rivian will give users control over the UI they think most beneficial.

Personally I find it quite helpful for a couple of reasons
1) it shows me what the car sees while in highway assist, so I can feel confident it knows what I know about the surroundings
2) quite often it can see things I can't, when my view is obstructed (for example seeing 2 cars ahead, but I can't see past the car directly in front)
3) another tool for a quick blind spot check

I think #1 was the reason Tesla started this (silly imo) view but it has the opposite impact on me and I'd love to be able to turn it off until the driver assistances improve and it has a practical use.

Bare minimum this should only show up when Driver+ engaged. That way you wouldn't have everything scramble/covered when the using a turn signal or having a song change.

Still would like to see date and temp in front of me.
Time too!
They all (with addition of distance) seem to be situational information more important to a safe driving experience (maybe not date) than to be placed about as far away on the center screen as possible: in the northern latitudes I like to know when temperatures approach 32F to be vigilant about freezing highway conditions; on-road or off on-trail: time, distance & mph are essential for navigating.
