Marginally related (if you really stretch), but I saw a Tesla with one of these bumper stickers (SFW). Guessing it's to deter idiot vandals. Sad that this is what the world has come to.

Ridiculous. Everyone knows that it’s BMW drivers.
Nah, BMWs just don't come with turn signals. Not road rage, doing whatever you feel like is the BMW stereotype.

If released again, matter of time this guy runs into someone with a CCW. With a record like his, pretty easy for courts to rule lethal response, in self-defense, is justified. The woman he punched could have knocked her head hard against parked car or ground and fractured her skull. Such injuries can be lethal. Hawaii does issue permits.

Seriously. So typical of local news, always looking for the buzzwords to increase viewership. What difference does it make if he drives a Tesla? Like a headline of a speeding Prius driver. Remember, the taxpayers are fronting the costa of his ER visit for his jail assault, much as he may have deserved it.

Our country and the world really has a mental heath epidemic. That are many folks out there who need mental health treatment but either can’t get it because of their illness or do not have the resources to get treated.

The news of course will say oh it’s a Tesla driver or oh it’s a “fill in your favorite EV maker here” drive and they are all nuts.

As far as I’m concerned the news media…left or right leaning….are party responsible for all the polarization. It’s terrible …journalists are supposed to be objective!

Anyway, we as a society need to do more to help folks with mental health and substance use issues.

Looks as if Mental Health diagnosis and treatment are badly needed, AND some people need to be off the streets for society's protection as well as their own.

If he showed the same poor judgment inside prison as out, actions have consequences. Deliberately provoking another inmate is seen as a serious problem, both by other inmates and by correctional officers. in a well-run prison, inmate-on-anyone physical assaults don't work out well for the assaulter -- you just hope the assaulter gets restrained and nobody gets permanently injured.

If this dangerous judgment has a correctable cause, let's hope he gets the help he needs AND sufficient time in a safe environment (either jail/prison, or a secure psych unit/hospital) to show actual change in his behavior.

I agree that this person's "Tesla Driver" status is mostly or entirely irrelevant.

On my last trip to the Seattle area, I had time to watch plenty of Tesla owners. In Seattle, Tesla drivers seem to drive very much like other owners of cars that size. Not a particularly entitled bunch, as far as I could tell. And I don't recall Teslas or any other EVs drag-racing on I-5, as I see with small ICE vehicles on I-5 anywhere within 15 miles of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Pretty much every Rivian I've personally seen anywhere has appeared to be safely driven. I'm proud of the Rivian family.

Best to all!

Based on what I have seen this person clearly has a mental health issue. There is nothing wrong with anger...we all get angry...but he has no self control at all. Anger can actually be a good thing if one has self control and can do something productive with his/her anger. Lashing out...physically assaulting others...etc. never ends well.

Hopefully that's the only assault he suffers in jail and he is able to get help with managing his mental health.
My wife makes me angry on purpose...the goal being to make me angry which I vent by cleanin, fixing stuff. I go do a solid 10 hours of house and yard work while I stew. I know she does it on purpose..

That guy needs to be sent to prison for a very long time IMHO. If not he will eventually kill someone.
