Update: got a text today that they have my car in NJ (started out like Q tip's wallet in El Segundo) and can deliver to me on 3/4.
So: R1 Shop order on 2/15, Update 2/28, Delivery (hopefully 3/4). Overall turnaround ~ 3 weeks on promised 1-6 week window.

They really do a good job of getting already excited customers much more excited, don't they?
On my demo drive, the guy at the SC told me that since they're right by the rail depot, they are typically seeing people who "shop available builds" get them in 1-2 weeks lately. That excited me. I found one I liked enough and paid the deposit that day.
Then one of the very next steps is to show proof of insurance and they already have a VIN (with a 2023 manufactured date) and the website says the vehicle is "moving through final quality checks". Very exciting. I might get this thing quick just like the guy said! Better hurry up and complete the purchase!
Then a guide sends an email a day later that says, "looks like your vehicle is on its final journey to you!". Very exciting, but sounds pretty urgent: the email also warns that you have to complete the payment at least three days before your delivery date (even though I don't have a delivery date yet). Website says that scheduling will unlock soon so I'm assuming I have to complete the final step (payment) to unlock this. Oh boy! So excited! Here RIVN, I'm wiring you a hundred thousand dollars right now. Can't wait!
Days go by. No delivery date.
Text the guide who sent the email with all that "on its final journey to you" stuff... Yeah, it'll be here just over a month from now. Ooof.. Wish I hadn't already sold my other truck yesterday because I didn't want to pay for insurance on both of them.

This helps! I just put my shop order in yesterday 3/7 for a QM+LP and finished 7 of the 8 steps. Sales Specialist said the car was at the factory and the beyond useless guide said its in Millbrae, CA (I didn't know there was a service center there??). So not sure who to believe.

I completed all 8 steps and wired all the cash within three days and now that I have a pickup appointment scheduled, looks like it will be 4.5 weeks for me. Misleading the first couple of days with things like "final quality checks" and "on its final journal to you now" baloney, but in the end, it will still be within that 1-6 week window the shop site says.
