Rory Reid reviewed the BMW iX, and the more reviews of this thing that comes the more I am starting to like it.

Yes, let me get the obvious out of it, THE FRONT GRILL!

But once you see past it, which actually looks good in person (I find it quirky and unique), the iX50 does have some real advantages. It's BMW technology, true luxury, real ride comfort (every single reviewer has said how quiet and comfortable it is), a big 105 kWh battery pack rated for 475 KM. It also has a very impressive charging curve.

The way I would configure it, the iX50 comes just under 110K CAD, which is in line with the R1S.
Other than Quad Motors, Offroad capability, third row seats and the RAN network (Whenever it comes online), there does not seem to be any real advantage to the R1S for me. And these are things I consider niceties, and not real advantages.

I have been considering this as my top choice if Rivian does not come through in time.

I'm sorry, but that vehicle is an abomination! I was just at a focus group this past weekend for the next Audi Q7 and Q8 eTron and when asked to compare the iX to Etron and others (Rivian included), everyone hated the iX. BTW, the eTron looked very nice, but I still said that I wasn't going to cancel my R1S preorder to wait for the Audi! ?

Oh yeah, I agree.
I would take the eTron any day to the iX when it comes to looks.
I am keeping an eye on the eTron S myself (Trimotor hotness!).
I mean look at this thing!

But until Audi comes out with their ground up EV, the eTron Q8 (?) in 2023, the current eTron will never match up against the iX when it comes to everything else, especially range and technology.

Just wait, the eTron Q8 (which I saw), looks WAYYYYY better than the iX and will have much improved features, interior and range (as presented to us) than the current eTron. This platform will be the basis for the next Porsche SUV EVs as well as Bentley. I saw those at a previous focus group earlier in the year.

No frunk and smallest cargo area vs any comparable vehicle. Seems pointless to me, I'd rather just get a much more efficient sedan.

Smaller "boot" (rear cargo area) than a Model X or BMW X3, and no frunk :movember:

this must be the concept development team ?:lipssealed::headbang::champagne::ontheloo:

Showing my age, I guess, but looking at the iX50 gave me a flashback to the old Ipana toothpaste commercials. :)
