Rory Reid reviewed the BMW iX, and the more reviews of this thing that comes the more I am starting to like it.
Yes, let me get the obvious out of it, THE FRONT GRILL!
But once you see past it, which actually looks good in person (I find it quirky and unique), the iX50 does have some real advantages. It's BMW technology, true luxury, real ride comfort (every single reviewer has said how quiet and comfortable it is), a big 105 kWh battery pack rated for 475 KM. It also has a very impressive charging curve.
The way I would configure it, the iX50 comes just under 110K CAD, which is in line with the R1S.
Other than Quad Motors, Offroad capability, third row seats and the RAN network (Whenever it comes online), there does not seem to be any real advantage to the R1S for me. And these are things I consider niceties, and not real advantages.
I have been considering this as my top choice if Rivian does not come through in time.
