I don’t believe anyone that says their vehicle has been trouble free. Every person I have met with one has had service. Look at issues, repair, warranty forum. 100 pages of issues. For me, bad module where I could not download any new updates. Truck was in there for three weeks. Two bad back up cameras filled with condensation another three weeks faulty bed compressor another two weeks four months to get an appointment. By any measure, this is awful. Still love the truck lol.

Consumer reports is garbage these days. They should stick to vacuums.
Totally agree. Any reviews that list Audi above the 25 percentile (1st Quartile) leaves me scratching my head. Every Audi owner I know say their car spends more time in the shop than on the road.

My ‘95 GMC truck had over 300,000 miles and was still running strong (just recently donated and replaced by our R1S). They also rate GMC towards the bottom. ?‍♂

I know right? Mobile Service coming to my home to realign the driver side door, and then recently replacing my 12v batteries was soooo horrible! Worst 39,900 miles of ownership in my life! ? /s

You believing it or not will not alter that it’s true for me with my former ‘22 R1T who in the 40k miles I had it had a loose molding and a broken cupholder both that were fixed by a mobile appointment right in my garage at 0 inconvenience to me.

I have wanted a EV for years now and I have looked at the many options out there. I eventually decided I liked the Rivian the best. And when I learned that they were making the an affordable model I was all in and put down a reservation on the first day. Many of my family and friends try to talk me out of getting an EV because of all the issues they have and the negative publicity that always seems to be out there. I have just wanted to get one just to prove them wrong. But when I see Consumer reports vehicle reliability reports and Rivian is at he very bottom by a long ways I get discouraged and worry that I will end up with a problem vehicle. My friends and family are just going to be saying "I told you!". I still have high hopes that Rivian is going to learn from the past issues and start making reliable EVs. When I first saw this data last year I thought it must be because of all the issues with the retractable tonneau cover on the bed. But If you click on Rivian on the web site you can see it is the R1S that is the least reliable. I hope to see big improvements in reliability over the next 2 years or I will not be buying.
This is a screen shot of the ratings as ai was not sure if I could post a link to their site in this post or if non members would see it.

Quite a disparity....Best in Satisfaction, but least reliable. Our experience with both a 21 Tesla Y and a 22 R1T, a combined 70k miles, with wonderful driving experience, and with no service calls or issues not corrected by the next update. Cannot wait to add a R2 when it's built ! As someone said, you hear of the problems, not the awesome experiences, on these forums.

And yet - it tops CRs "most Loved" consumer satisfaction list! https://electrek.co/2024/02/04/rivi...t-loved-ranks-after-its-reviewers-derided-it/

Let’s not pretend there’s not a problem here. If you look at the Forum page, there are 82 pages of problems. Each page consist of 22 individual complaints. That’s 1800 individual complaints. Most people don’t even post. Many more are agreeing that they have the same issue or trying to help the individual out and fixing the problem. Most require a service center visit which takes three months sometimes or longer. Then they have your car for two weeks or more. This is a serious issue.

Congratulations you are the exception, not the rule.
Please post the results of your 100k plus owner survey that you conducted to speak as definitively as you are. Until you do, I’ll assume you’re talking without any actual evidence

At one time you could live by what consumer reports stated publicly. Now their reporting for products and not just autos is way off and of no value to me any longer. It appears they get data second hand and then throw it out there

How come I haven't seen you on the F-150 forums helping me fix my F150's TCU module, or thousands of rattling timing chains... don't even get me started on the 10 spd transmission that gives you whiplash on deceleration. They probably have about 10 million 10 speeds in service if you include Chevrolet using them as well. I get about a letter a week to join class action lawsuits covering Fords I drive currently and have owned in the past. With that said... I still think a majority of people who drive Ford's are satisfied with them and consider them reliable.

Service wise, I've had mine in for service a few times. Every time I was quoted a long wait time, then I received a call a day later stating that they could squeeze me in within the same week. When I did take it in, I always had a loaner or rental waiting and was never really incoveinanced any worse than I have been with regular ICE cars.

Do I think Rivian can improve, HELL YEAH. Do I regret buying one, not yet. I drive home everyday and see cars crashed, flipped over on their sides or dead in the road. None of them get any press, unless it is heaven forbid, a Rivian or Cybertruck that happens to have some bad luck. Then it is deemed viral news worthy. This probably also contributes to why we have so many drive bys at this forum.
