Hello all!

I recently took delivery (a week ago) of a R1T that is a 2023. I was a little confused as to why it was a 2023, shouldn't it be a 2024? Also, the last 5 digits of the VIN are 25031 and that didn’t make sense to me either. Rivian has made way more that 25k R1T’s so did I get one that was returned or something? It is a lease so I not super concerned about it but it peaked my curiosity and didn’t make sense to me.

Anyone have any insight?

Thanks!

Numbers reset for each model year, and they are heavily R1S biased in production at the moment.

That’s what I don’t understand. Mine is a 2023 and if the numbers reset, the last 5 digits would be far more than 25k since Rivians made way more R1Ts in 2023 than 25k.

Rivian produced 57k vehicles in 2023, not R1Ts. That includes EDVs and R1S, the latter being the production focus in the back half of the year that @godfodder0901 mentioned. The handful of times I've been at the Denver SC in the past 6 months the lot is A) completely full of vehicles and B) it's at least 2/3 R1S.

Ahhhh, ok. That makes sense. Thanks for clearing it up!

No worries! Realistically, you probably got a VERY recent build.

VIN do not reset by year anymore. It did briefly over the 2022 to 2023 switch, but Rivian stopped doing that

2022 to 2023 reset would likely still be applicable to the OPs situation though, right? Just not applicable to say.... 2023 to 2024?
