I thought it would be good to post a thread where everyone can post their tips and tricks to getting the most out of the RA. This is not a place for complaints about the RA - we have enough of those threads, but rather a place owners can post cool things they have found with the RA or ways to make it work better.

I'll start:

1.) someone on reddit was complaining about the lack of punctuation in text messages, and someone chimed in to say that he taught his RA to punctuate his texts. Today, I tried it by responding to a friend's text. After you speak your message, RA will ask you if you want to send it. I told the RA to "add punctuation," and it did! It changed "yeah probably" to "yeah, probably." It also changed how the voice read the text to a more natural style. The Reddit poster said that the RA now adds punctuation automatically. We shall see if it "learns" that I like punctuation.

2.) To use the cooled seats, you need to ask for "ventilated" seats - asking RA to turn on the "butt coolers" turns on the heated seats!

3.) You can ask about weather forecasts and weather watches or warnings. I was driving through a thunderstorm the other night and asked if any watches or warnings were issued and it looked and found there were none.

4.) Wind direction - this is useful for long trips and range estimates. I asked RA what direction the wind was blowing and it found out. Unfortunately it could not tell me if I had a head or tail wind as it doesn't seem to have access to my current direction of travel.

For the first one, perhaps toggling on the memory option within the mobile app, will remember to add punctuation?

Within the mobile app on the main page click your initials on the floating menu at bottom right corner. Rivian Intelligence where you will find the option to enable Memory.

I was able to ask it to pronounce the name of one of my contacts differently. It seemed to understand what I wanted, asked me to phoneticalyl spell it, and repeated it back to me. I forgot to thest if it stayed the next time it said their name.

It can certainly troll the web - my kids asked about my mom and wife and spit back fairly accurate bios, however it couldn't figure out my long polish last name - maybe I have to teach it before it can troll the web for me.

One thing I noticed the last time I tried it, the "on screen" display of the text didn't update with punctuation, but the voice read-back did and the actual message sent was punctuated.

Seems to be much better than what my friends text me. Punctuation? Forget that, they don't even bother with proper grammar.

As far as wind direction-can it tell if that's external or internal? j/k

If you're backing out of the garage and have coffee in one hand, and the wheel in the other, you can ask it to close the garage for you. Convenient if your thumb isn't in a good spot to push the button.

Also, you can add nicknames/labels to contacts. I told the ai that a particular contact should be nicknamed wife and it worked the next time I text her.
Yes, this works, though the AI might say something about not being able to set nicknames. It still saves the nickname.

Another tip that can probably be categorized as "be specific, don't expect RA to guess your intentions."

I had issues at first getting it to add stops on my route. I'd ask it to stop at a "Potbelly's" - and it would choose the one closest to my current location, but that would kinda blow up my route (as it was in the other direction from my ultimate destination.)

By asking "are there any coffee shops near my route/destination" it correctly identifies coffee shops near the route or destination.

I found another use. My son was asking what the difference between a marsh and a pond is. I intuitively knew the answer but couldn't pin a good definition of it. I asked the RA and it provided a definition of each as well as a comparison. So its good for fact-based internet questions.

I found out today that it can change drive mode: sport, standard, etc.
This functionality is really nice for those of us with EVPlay - I can have Waze up on my main screen and use voice commands to change from all purpose to conserve and back again. It's also nice for adjusting the temperature without having to switch off the EVPlay screen.
