Been interested in the r1t. Considering down sizing my truck and car to just the rivian. The thing is the trucks bed is small. I would love to rent one for the a weekend to take dirt biking just to see how small the bed really feels, charging times that are needed. Any Ideas of a place I could do that. Live in the Bay Area and there really wasn't much available on turn. These trucks not cheap and want to make sure it suits my needs. I drive pretty far for dirt biking. My truck can make it there and back on a tank of fuel and Than some. But damn it's getting expensive.

Sometimes Rivian will let you do overnight test drives. I highly doubt that includes off-roading. If you are thinking of buying brand new, you should bring this up to your guide.

The bed is small, but with the tailgate down it becomes 84” long because of the gooseneck hinges. Because of that it is much more useful than my Tacoma‘s bed, which was actually longer than the R1T with tailgate up.

There is not much on turo. . ok, I had a 08 tacoma double cab but it had a 6ft bed. I upgraded to a dodge for a bigger truck. I think I can handle the smaller bed. I don't know yet. Lol.. any one try and fit a yard of bark in the bed? There suppose to be opening a show room in Walnut Creek. hopefully soon.

Get a utility trailer. That would solve your mulch needs and plenty of people have transported dirt bikes with the tailgate down. Remember the tailgate extends to make a 7’ bed surface.

You can get a motorcycle hitch carrier as well. That might be an option. I have a bunch of bike and it hasn't been an issue yet with the tailgate done. The biggest bike I've put back there was my Ducati Multistrada. A real plus is how low the truck will lower so going up a ramp is so much easier.

A few years ago, I had to load my Rocket 3 in my Ram pickup and take it to the shop for work. It was terrifying to put the bike going up the ramp and even worse having to back it down. The Rivian is so much lower that the ramp angle is much easier to deal with. For my dirtbike and lighter sportbikes, I often use this. Just watch the tongue weight for the truck.

If you're used to having the tailgate down while hauling your bike, then you'll be fine.

The R1T has an interesting gooseneck design on the tailgate which makes it considerably longer when open. It's great. I've thrown my kayak back there with a T-extender and it's been fine, despite looking ridiculous.

As far as renting goes, Turo used to have them but sounds like you're coming up empty there.

ETA - just found at least 2 R1Ts in the South Bay on Turo, so they exist.

ok. I always close my tailgate but I was actually thinking of getting a hitch mount for the dirt bike anyways. It gets old loading a bike in the bed. I don’t really tow. But I do use my bed.
There was one in Turo in Oakland but it had the smaller battery. If I get one I want max range.

This is the answer. Rivian does offer overnight demo drives now at least in some markets. If turo is not an option then I would book a demo drive with Rivian and then ask about the overnight demo drive.

I don't know that they will be okay with off-roading but that is a good question to ask the Rivian rep that is assisting with your demo drive.

Likely you will not find a max range T. S are selling 3 to 1 and S are more family road trip market. Rent a T to test out truck functions and S for other stuff like range if that is absolutely important to you. The max range is just going to give you a few more miles there isn't much else to test really.

Ok. So street tires. not super worried about off-roading. The most is a fire trail. The two biggest is if I can make it to my riding destination and only have to charge on the way home and the bed size is adequate enough for my needs. Obviously want the speed. And the nice interior. I have not been able to price out less than 93k. Mostly 100k if you equip it.
