Metric is so much better for science & math, not to mention tools! I guess if there is a positive, imperial provides plenty of practice for math proficiency.
My partner is Polish. You should see the morning confusion in our house about the outside temperature.

Metric .... tools!
That's a good cue for a mention that Teslas use metric hardware. Anyone know about Rivian? I'd say probably metric as I think American manufacturers are quietly adopting it.

Mine is Canadian living, during the summer, in the land of her birth. You should see the confusion on her part when it comes to the thermostats, ovens etc.

All I try to keep straight is that 100 kph = 62 mph in European car reviews, and 30Âş Celsius is about the limit for sitting on the lanai.

Miles and km are easy because the ratio is very close to the Golden Ratio = 1.618 which has the useful property that its reciprocal is 0.618 - you only have to remember 1 number (and that its close to the Golden Ratio). C to F is easy because all you have to do is double C, subtract a tenth of that and add 32 e.g.

30*2 = 60; 60 - 60/10 =54; 54 + 32 = 86.

Also, if you spend any time in hot climes you will quickly realize that 35 ~ 95 and that each 5 C either side of that adds or subtracts 9 F.

When it’s -42, you’ll agree!

I don't understand the lengthy arguments as to why the US shouldn't adopt the metric system but I've been living with their consequences all my life.
I think it is because were some combination of lazy and stubborn. We were supposed to convert some 30 odd years ago, but we never got around to it.

I think it is a conspiracy by the tool manufacturers to force us to buy twice as many tools :swear:
