Does anyone know if the rear 12V power outlet for the R1S is triggered by the ignition or is it always on or does it need to be turned on?

I believe there is a setting in the energy menu to turn on the outlets (and set for how long)

@pangpang77: I know two ways to activate the R1S' rear 110V outlet:

SHORTCUTS METHOD:
Swipe center screen from left to show the "Access" diagram.
Hit the switch-on switch-off bar in upper right to bring up the "Shortcuts" menu.
Press the top button, "Outlets".
Set the length of time for which you want to activate the outlet(s).

CAMPING SCREEN METHOD:
Swipe center screen from bottom to display "Camping" (tent) icon, if not already seen on bottom.
In "Camping" Home Screen, press "Outlets" on right.
Set the length of time for which you want to activate the outlet(s).

In each case, the outlet shuts off -- regardless of timer settings -- when the battery gets below 30 miles of range.

***

Interestingly, despite the shared name "Access," the Settings->Vehicle->Access menu does NOT appear to be a way to activate the outlet.

Best wishes!

I found in the manual that all 12V are activated by ignition. I assume that’s correct?

So I may have found my answer. I think it’s correct that the 110V requires turning on from settings.

What ignition? The Rivian doesn't have ignition. Just like Dave Cundiff says above just turn on the outlet from the menu.

Ok, when the car is awake 🙄

“12V Power is always on when the vehicle is awake” as quoted from the manual

Is the R1 always “on” (meaning Ready, in gear, sleeping, or in one of the camping/shipping modes)?

I ask because other EV owners have mentioned their EVs can be turned off. I’m not exactly sure what “off” means in the non-Rivian EV context.

In the ICE world (which shall be henceforth be referred to as “Hoth”), vehicles have off, on, and accessory modes.

Are all EVs always “on” or is the R1 different?
