Looks to me like a strong steel bump step in the receiver would have minimized this damage.

First hope everyone is okay! With an impact like that, you need to get checked out by a doctor.

Second, do you have the video? Ya know we want to see it! I just got rear-ended in my T a couple weeks back and had only owned it for a few months. Mine is trivial compared to your accident but still a real pain. I did not know that I needed a separate media device to capture events like this. I saw GearGuard and other things recording so assumed it was all the same, similar to my Tesla, so I missed getting the person hitting me.
